Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your organization name, website, Industry, address, company size, record size and also the kind of material you plan to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Site (or domain name).
This is still part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to that domain so they could email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed these Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Website, and ascertain whether you are a fantastic match for their service.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and perform with the features, but you will not be able to send anything before accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these measures are not ideal for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email marketing.
(We will get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But whether it’s a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always a reason to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t start your broadcast email, with the option of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional options, most of these will follow Exactly the same step-by-step process of a standard campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Pick a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and select from among the pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I will choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to add different Kinds of content to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and societal links.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ options where you are able to choose your groups or segments.
The advanced tab also allows you To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Xqueue
Handling Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most essential aspects of any email advertising software now.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You’re searching to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”label” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your readers belong to a segment only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and will be automatically added or eliminated so.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also blend Principles, in addition to another rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and also the difference in name, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation principle — that we will get to in a moment — and they don’t have any value aside from what you actually call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple subscribers collectively based on a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they’re discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular areas, such as title, company, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field data in separate columns… or can easily add these fields to your forms which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added into a form:
I will not go too much to the form Things here because I have an entire section on that below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field data from fresh Readers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important to know this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to state MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on stage. Xqueue
If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen up to Now, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a great foundation to work from if, like most of us, you don’t have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They ultimately do the same job; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and this is better than a few dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually offers a Decent set of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover .
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your site to show it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer lets you To personalize everything from the kind style, subjects, background, title, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which Provides you a Opportunity To visualize your backup in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to some form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form functions, such as adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded form and prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on mobile by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of this Embedded form but like I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do offer a fantastic base to work from and the editor is just as easy to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types This time around:
Considering paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Finally, you can choose the close Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text choice, or have .
This is really where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber development, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you specific coverage for that effort.
This is where you’ll find a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of the report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see how your readers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations are Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, though I found to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will find the available statistics more than sufficient to fulfill their needs.
What’s email advertising without a dash of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The good news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, then You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for each and every email marketing software.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an act, like transferring a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for moving Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that activate new automation workflows. It is just not as efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when creating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to add your subject line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Finally, your email address will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, so it’s possible to find an idea of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is really much faster than what I’m utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you will likely find this a downgrade in functionality.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is one type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and that I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or measure ) based on the way Subscribers interact with all the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only isn’t accessible MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you might want to skip this one. Xqueue
The cost of MailerLite is among those tools largest Selling things, and let’s face it, we all love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your mails using this program, it is still an amazing option for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It turns out, at around half of the Cost of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far among the least expensive options on the market. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay yearly, you are also able to get an even better discount.
In fact, I have not been able to locate anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those email marketing tools to disrupt The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of decades, which is no simple feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
Thinking of giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you From the comments. Xqueue
