Intro Vip Email Marketing
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what would you say? Vip Email Marketing
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online industries now, email advertising has been Dominated by the identical big players for the previous decade. Which means they get encouraged very deeply and achieve a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.
So now, in this short article, I will be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to find out if it really stands its own ground against the big boys…

Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, site, Business, address, business size, list size and even the kind of material you intend to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Website (or domain name).
This is still part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to that domain so they can email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed these Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you’re a fantastic fit for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to make campaigns and perform with the features, but you will not be able to send anything before approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these measures are not perfect for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from damaging everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle The majority of your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But if it’s a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t start your broadcast email, with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, most of these will follow The exact same step-by-step procedure of a standard effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Pick a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can change to the Templates tab and select from one of their pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I will choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of content to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and social links.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you are able to choose your groups or segments.
The advanced tab also allows you To build segment-like rules , in the event your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Vip Email Marketing
Managing Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably among The most essential facets of any email marketing program today.
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You are looking to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”label” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified rules, and are automatically added or removed so.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even blend Principles, as well as another rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and despite the difference in title, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation rule — which we will get to in a minute — and they don’t have any value besides what you call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple subscribers together according to a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they are optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular areas, such as title, business, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers along with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or can simply add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added to a form:
I will not go too much into the form Stuff here because I have a whole section on this below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field information from new Readers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you know this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to state MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on stage. Vip Email Marketing
If you are not impressed with what you’ve seen so far, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you will be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, but it will offer a fantastic base to work from if, for example the majority of us, you don’t have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They all finally do the identical job; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than some dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Decent set of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover .
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the form style, fields, background, name, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To visualize your backup in real time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to a form than just its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form works, such as adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, That will replace the embedded form and prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess how your form screens on mobile by switching the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of the Embedded form but like I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the installation process is identical, there are A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do offer a good foundation to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use for this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types This time around:
Contemplating paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Finally, you can choose the close Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have .
That is really where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber development, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special coverage for this effort.
This is where you’ll find a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of this report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see your subscribers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, though I found to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will get the available data more than enough to meet their demands.
What’s email marketing without a dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for every email marketing program.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a bubble break, or an act, such as moving a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s currently no automation for transferring Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that activate new automation workflows. It’s simply not as effective…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when creating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your topic line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email address will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, which means you can find an concept about what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it is really much quicker than what I’m utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, so you will likely find that this downgrade in functionality.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s 1 type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on the way Readers interact with the webpages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting just isn’t available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Vip Email Marketing
The Price of MailerLite is no doubt among those tools largest Selling points, and let’s face it, we all love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your emails using this plan, it’s still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It turns out, at around half of the Price of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far one of the cheapest options available on the market. Plus, if you’re ready to pay yearly, you are also able to get an even better discount.
In Reality, I have not been able to locate anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the very few marketing tools to disrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of years, and that’s no simple feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
