Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your organization name, site, Industry, address, business size, record size and also the type of material you intend to send.
Then, you need to verify your Website (or domain name).
This remains part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to that domain so they could email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Site, and ascertain whether you’re a good match for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you won’t have the ability to send anything before accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these measures are not ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from damaging everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle Nearly all your email marketing.
(We will get to automations soon, don’t worry.)
But whether it’s a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always a reason to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular effort: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t open your broadcast email, with the choice of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional choices, the Majority of these will follow The same step-by-step procedure of a normal effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Pick a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and select from among their pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to include different Kinds of articles to your email, such as videos, product columns, and societal links.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you can select your classes or sections.
The advanced tab also allows you To build segment-like rules , in case your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Unlimited Email Marketing Service
Handling Your Clients
Having granular control over your readers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email advertising software today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You are looking to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”tag” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and are automatically inserted or removed accordingly.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even blend Principles, as well as an alternate rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and also the difference in title, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation rule — that we’ll get into in a minute — and they have no value besides what you actually call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple subscribers collectively based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they are optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own fields, such as name, company, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers along with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or may easily add these fields to a types which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added into a form:
I will not go too much to the form Stuff here since I have an entire section on this below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field data from new Subscribers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you understand that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s fair to state MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on point. Unlimited Email Marketing Service
If you’re not impressed with what you’ve seen up to Now, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it will offer a great foundation to work from if, like the majority people, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the identical task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is better than a few dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really offers a Decent set of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer allows you To customize everything from the form style, fields, background, name, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To envision your own backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to a form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form functions, such as adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded form and prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can check the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of this Embedded form but like I said before, you may also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the installation process is identical, you will find A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth selection, they do provide a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use for this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types Now around:
Considering paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Finally, you can Select the near Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
This is really where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special reporting for that effort.
This is where you’ll discover a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of this report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see your readers interacted with your mails in relation to another.
Reports for automations are Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found to be less insightful than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will get the available data more than enough to fulfill their demands.
What’s email advertising without a dash of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for every email advertising software.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an act, such as moving a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s currently no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that trigger new automation workflows. It’s just not as effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when generating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, which means you can find an concept about what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it’s actually much faster than what I am used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll likely find this a downgrade in performance.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is 1 type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also I think it’s important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on the way Subscribers interact with the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Unlimited Email Marketing Service
The cost of MailerLite is undoubtedly among those tools biggest Selling things, and let’s face it, we all love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your mails using this program, it is still an amazing alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It turns out, at around half of the Cost of this competition generally, MailerLite is by far one of the cheapest options available on the industry. Plus, if you’re willing to pay annually, you are also able to get a much better discount.
In Reality, I have not been able to find anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the few email advertising tools The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of decades, which is no easy feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
