Not only does it provide all of the crucial stuff you would expect from an email marketing platform – record hosting, templates, autoresponders, analytics and so forth, but as mentioned previously, it has been expanding the attribute set to the point at which it is morphing into an all-in-one / CRM-style advertising and marketing platform.

Among the most frustrating aspects of utilizing many famous CRM tools is that the need to export data to CSV and straight back to your email marketing instrument in order to perform mailouts (or the need to export info from the email marketing tool into your CRM to add prospects to it).

The CRM is now integrated with all of Getresponse’s email marketing functionality and you can add users to a CRM pipeline according to their activity (form completions, email opens, purchases etc.) or trigger autoresponders depending on the accession of a new contact into a pipeline phase.
An example of how to use this functionality would be as follows:
It is possible to add a contact to a specific point on a revenue pipeline depending on the page of your website that they finished a form ;
you could then send a automated email tailored to that pipeline period a couple of days afterwards;

However, it is not all fantastic news about the CRM front there are a few big things missing out of Getresponse’s CRM feature set.
The most glaring omission is e mail activity tracking. Other CRM packages permit you to bcc a dropbox email address any time you send an email to a lead or client; doing so keeps a record of this communication from the contact’s history. There’s now no way of doing so with all the Getresponse CRM, nor is there an easy way to send one-to-one emails to prospects or clients.
And strangely, if you click on a contact in a deal pipeline, you can not see their contact activity — i.e., the actions they’ve taken (open, clicks etc.) in regards to previous communications that you have delivered to your prospects aren’t displayed. To observe this, you have to go out of the CRM section of Getresponse, hunt for your contact in the contacts section and click in their details. But guess what? Doing so doesn’t display their deal history.
Task management is non-existent also: Unlike dedicated CRM tools, there’s no way to assign tasks to other team members.
Finally, adding contacts to your pipeline stage is tough. You have to add contacts to a list first, then go to the CRM pipeline, include a deal and search your lists for the contact you just added. From a usability point of view this is very clunky and time consuming. You should just have the ability to put in a deal directly to a pipeline and then enter the contact information of your guide or client at the point.
So as things stand, the Getresponse CRM is a bit half-baked. But that said, it’s a new attribute and the things it can do on the automation aspect is remarkable. I am hopeful that this attribute gets developed over time since done right, it’s possibly a game-changer for entrepreneurs and SMEs.
Getresponse recently introduced the ability to host webinars on the platform.
Given that webinars are generally utilized as a lead-generation tactic, the notion of having your email database along with your webinar tool under precisely the same roof is extremely appealing.
The pricing is also very competitive too by comparison to established webinar solutions. The email deliverability rate – the percentage of e-newsletters sent that successfully hit inboxes – is obviously an important point to check at when choosing an email marketing instrument.
Not all email marketing suppliers are that forthright about their deliverability rates; however, Getresponse seems reasonably open about that, with this to say about it on their own site:

Because deliverability is dependent upon a number of things, including the content of your messages, the deliverability rate could vary for each mailing. For all our clients collectively, however, we’re pleased to say our overall deliverability rate now stands at 99%.
Obviously you’re going to have to take the organization’s term for this, but assuming it is true, it’s a fantastic rate and inspires confidence that the huge majority of emails you send using Getresponse will reach their receivers.
Furthermore, Getresponse actually gives you the deliverability rate of every message in your email analytics – that is something I haven’t struck on competing products’ metrics. A thumbs up for it.
I do have to pull Getresponse up on something relating to deliverability however: to guarantee a high deliverability speed, it’s advisable to use a system named DKIM email authentication. You can use DKIM using Getresponse – but just on the costlier Getresponse’Max’ plans.

The most important advantage of a single sampling procedure is that it makes it very easy for users to subscribe to your mailing list; it also generally increases conversion speed and so the number of readers on your list. A dual opt-in procedure is better for verifying that the people subscribing to a list are using actual email addresses and leads to cleaner data and more precise stats (because open rates etc. ) are calculated according to a list containing just email addresses).
Now, the fantastic news is that Getresponse permits you to take advantage of either opt-in approach – this is not the case with all competing goods. Thus a thumbs up for Getresponse for being flexible on this.
You are probably thinking that all this sounds quite fine — but to be honest, I think there is a lot of room for improvement with regard to Getresponse form templates.
To begin with, they are not responsive (i.e., they won’t resize themselves automatically to suit the device they’re being viewed on).
Furthermore, no controllers are offered by Getresponse to switch forms on or off on particular devices or individual pages of your website. Whilst its drag-and-drop approach does in theory provide an extremely flexible approach to create blocks of articles and move them around an e-newsletter, in practice it’s quite clunky to use and can cause accidental deletion of content, or positioning of it in the incorrect portion of the e-newsletter.
If you’re able to get your head about it, and practice using it a bit, it will result in a useful instrument – it is just that the implementation of it could be rather better.
Additionally, as explained above, the CRM instrument could be better from a usability point of view adding contacts to deals can be unnecessarily difficult.
The 30-day free trial that Getresponse supplies is completely functional and the free trial isn’t contingent upon providing credit card information.
This helps you avoid that annoying”oops I forgot I signed up for that trial and today I’m getting charged for a product I don’t use” scenario.
The only down side to the free trial is the fact that it restricts the amount of readers it is possible to send to 1000. It would be useful if that could be raised a little, as it might help potential users try the tool out in more’real-world’ scenarios.

Pricing Vs Competitors
So long as you are happy to use one of those entry-level’Email’ plans, the pay-per-month Getresponse programs are on the whole more affordable than those provided by many of its key competitors, particularly if you’ve got a reasonably large number of email addresses on your own database.

If you are happy to limit the number of mails delivered via Campaign Monitor (from the case above, to 50k mails ), you can expect to pay a monthly charge of $89, still considerably greater than Getresponse’s.
The only well-known service I can think of that comes in significantly more affordable is Mad Mimi, which costs $42 per month to host up to 10,000 email addresses (note however that the performance offered by Mad Mimi is nowhere near as extensive as Getresponse’s or really another products mentioned previously ).
Additionally, it is worth pointing out that Mailchimp offers narrower pricing rings, meaning that depending on how big your listing, it may sometimes be a slightly cheaper alternative than Getresponse.
At the smaller database end of things, Getresponse’s pricing is pretty competitive too – you can host a database comprising 1,000 email addresses for $15 a month using Getresponse, compared to $29 with Aweber; $59 on Campaign Monitor (unlimited send).
Mailchimp’s monthly fee to get a 1,000 record database will be exactly the like Getresponse’s; and Mad Mimi provides a marginally more affordable, if less functional offering for $12 a month.
Two final things to be Conscious of on the pricing front:
Some competing providers — especially Mailchimp – offer completely free accounts for users that have a few records (but these do not supply the entire range of features that you get on a paid plan).

Some improvements to Getresponse do need to be made nonetheless, particularly where the email programmer is concerned – its own drag and drop interface is more fiddly and less responsive than it should be.
