In addition to email marketing, it now also supplies training hosting, landing pages, and some CRM (customer relationship management) functionality.
We are going to discuss all these attributes in depth below, but first, let’s look in pricing.
Getresponse’s feature set is arguably one of the most comprehensive on the market.
Not only does it provide all of the key stuff you would expect from an email advertising platform – list templates, hosting, autoresponders, analytics and so forth, but as mentioned previously, it has been expanding the attribute set to the point where it is morphing into an all-in-one / CRM-style marketing platform.
The inquiry is if Getresponse is a jack of all trades and master of not – let us drill down to the crucial qualities to find out.
Up until very recently Getresponse service was one of the most comprehensive available for email advertising tools: the company offered phone service together with live chat support, email support and various online tutorials / resources.

So far so good with Getresponse, but in regards to templates, Getresponse arguably drops down a bit.
Unfortunately, the templates supplied out of the box look a bit dated; they aren’t as attractive as the ones offered by Mailchimp or Campaign Monitor (and I marginally prefer Aweber’s offering here too).
On the other hand, the templates are extremely tweakable – you can alter fonts, designs and vision easily enough with all the controls supplied; and naturally there’s nothing to stop you simply designing your HTML email template and importing the code for it.
Furthermore, there are tons of templates to choose from — around 500 — and they are presented in easy-to-understand categories, so it’s generally pretty straightforward to find a good beginning point for a template and then edit it before you are delighted with the plan.
If you are really not pleased with the templates offered by Getresponse, there is also the choice of purchasing a template from a third party supplier such as Theme Forest.
Another thing worth pointing out regarding Getresponse’s templates is the range of RSS-to-email software options aren’t so extensive (just 11 templates are supplied – well short of their 700+ available for routine newsletters!) And some of them played a bit for me when I tested them (2010). I finally found something that worked for me, but I think there are definitely some improvements which could be created in this area. Autoresponders are e-newsletters which are delivered to your subscribers at intervals depending on you personally — you can put them up so that instantly after somebody signals up to a mailing list, they get a welcome message in the company; a week later they could get a discount deal for a number of your products or services; three weeks later they could receive an invitation to accompany you on social networking. Getresponse’s autoresponder functionality is an integral selling point – it provides one of the most extensive feature sets available.

This type of functionality goes way beyond what’s traditionally been available from autoresponders, and allows you to make a user travel that may be customised to the nth degree.

It’s important to notice, however, that these more advanced marketing automation features are only available on the pricier plans – the’Guru’ plan and upward. Software De Email Marketing
Landing page Builder
Online advertising campaigns which use landing pages will usually generate far more leads if, instead of simply directing individuals to a (cluttered!) Website, they point users to attractive’squeeze pages’ comprising clear information and a clean, well-designed data capture type.
Getresponse provides something quite useful in this regard that the majority of its competitors do not: a landing page creator (and one that is mobile-friendly to boot).
Products like Campaign Monitor and Aweber ask that you use a third party (and paid-for) landing page creating tool such as Unbounce or Instapage; Mailchimp lately introduced a landing page functionality but it’s yet to become sophisticated at Getresponse’s.
However, unless you are on a Getresponse’Guru’,’Max’ or’Enterprise’ program, the Getresponse landing page functionality is rather limited: you can just produce one landing page, that can only be displayed 1,000 times per month.
Also, and above all, you can’t use the landing page A/B testing functionality on the cheapest Getresponse program (where the system shows a sample of your users different versions of your landing page, computes conversion rates, and finally rolls out the top performing landing page mechanically ).
If you’re serious about landing pages – plus they’re unquestionably a helpful feature – then it’s definitely worth looking at one of the more expensive Getresponse plans.
You can buy the Landing Pages feature as an add-on to get an additional $15 per month, however quite frustratingly, although the add-on permits you to show an infinite number of landing pages to prospective subscribers, it does not include A/B testing.
Therefore, if I was considering the Getresponse landing page functionality, I wouldn’t bother with this rather half-baked add-on: I’d just go for one of the more expensive programs (which I guess is exactly what Getresponse would like you to do) .
Getresponse was ahead of its competitors for quite some time with its responsive email design performance, which automatically corrects your e-newsletter’s template so that when an individual is reading it on a mobile device, the layout and fonts will be automatically optimised for the device in question.
Most competing products have caught up on this now, and extend responsive email templates, but Getresponse is better than many similar goods as soon as it comes to displaying a reactive record of your e-newsletter – you simply hit a’mobile preview’ button to get an instant snapshot of what your email looks like on a smartphone (see picture right).
Not only that but you can’flip’ the smartphone trailer around, so you can preview what your own email looks like when the screen is employed in either portrait or landscape mode. Software De Email Marketing
Customer Relationship Management
Among the most frustrating facets of utilizing many famous CRM tools is that the need to export information to CSV and back into your email marketing tool as a way to perform mailouts (or the necessity to export info from the email marketing tool in your CRM to add prospects to it).
So when I watched Getresponse lately introducing a new CRM attribute in their plans I was intrigued – that could possibly eliminate all that data exporting and importing, and keep everything neatly in 1 place.

An example of how to use this operation would be as follows:
You can add a contact to a particular point on a sales pipeline depending on the page of your site that they finished a form ;
you could then send them a automated email tailored to that pipeline stage a few days later;
and dependent on the action they took in regards to this email (clicking on a certain link etc) you could automatically move them onto another phase of the pipeline and invite invite them into a webinar.
It’s very smart stuff, and I can’t think of any similar email marketing product offering such a tight integration between autoresponders and CRM pipelines. For this kind of performance you normally must look at committed — and more expensive — CRM products such as Salesforce and Infusionsoft.
However, it is not all good news about the CRM front there are some big things missing from Getresponse’s CRM feature set.
The most glaring omission is e mail activity tracking. Additional CRM packages allow you to bcc a dropbox email address whenever you send an email to a lead or customer; doing so keeps a record of the communication from the contact’s history. There is currently no way of doing this with the Getresponse CRM, nor is there an easy way to send one-to-one mails to leads or customers.
And strangely, when you click on a contact in a deal pipeline, you can not see their contact activity — i.e., the activities they’ve taken (open, clicks etc.) with regard to previous communications which you have delivered to your leads aren’t displayed. To observe this, you have to go from the CRM part of Getresponse, hunt for your contact in the contacts section and then click in their details. But guess what? Doing this doesn’t display their history.
Task management is non-existent also: Unlike committed CRM tools, there is no way to assign tasks to other group members.
Finally, adding contacts to a pipeline stage is difficult. You have to add contacts to a list , then go to the CRM pipeline, add a bargain and search your lists for the contact you just added. From a usability point of view this is extremely clunky and time consuming. You should just be able to put in a deal directly to a pipeline and enter the contact details of your lead or customer at the point.
So as things stand, the Getresponse CRM is a bit half-baked. But that said, it is a new attribute and the stuff it can do on the automation aspect is remarkable. I’m optimistic that this feature becomes developed over time because done right, it’s possibly a game-changer for entrepreneurs and SMEs.
Getresponse recently introduced the capability to host webinars on the stage.
Given that webinars are usually utilized as a lead-generation tactic, the notion of having your email database along with your webinar tool under precisely the same roof is extremely appealing.
The pricing is also very competitive also compared to established webinar solutions. The email deliverability rate – the percentage of e-newsletters sent that successfully hit inboxes – is always a very important point to look at when choosing an email marketing tool.
Not all email marketing suppliers are that forthright in their deliverability prices; however, Getresponse seems reasonably open about this, with this to say about it on their website:

There are two methods you can employ to add subscribers to a mailing list: having a’only opt-in’ or even a’double opt-in’ process.
If you use use one opt-in procedure, the person registering to your own mailing list is added to your mailing list the minute they hit the submit button on your sign up form.
With a double opt-in procedure, the individual signing up to your record is sent an email containing a confirmation link that s/he have to click before being subscribed.
The most important benefit of one sampling procedure is that it makes it really easy for users to subscribe to a mailing list; additionally, it generally increases conversion rate and so the number of readers on your record. Whilst its drag-and-drop approach does in theory provide an extremely flexible way to create blocks of content and move them about an e-newsletter, in practice it is quite clunky to use and can cause accidental deletion of material, or placement of it at the incorrect portion of the e-newsletter.
If you can get your head about it, and practice using it a little bit, it will result in a useful instrument – it is just that the implementation of it could be rather better.
Also, as described above, the CRM instrument might be better from a usability point of view — adding contacts to deals can be unnecessarily difficult.
The 30-day complimentary trial that Getresponse supplies is completely functional and the free trial is not contingent upon supplying credit card information.
This makes it possible to avoid that annoying”oops I forgot I signed up for this particular trial and today I’m getting charged for a commodity that I do not use” scenario.
The only down side to this free trial is the fact that it restricts the amount of readers it is possible to send to to 1000. It would be useful if that could be increased a bit, as it might help prospective users try out the tool in more’real-world’ scenarios.

Additionally, it is worth pointing out that Mailchimp offers narrower pricing rings, meaning that based on the size of your list, it might sometimes be a slightly cheaper alternative than Getresponse.
At the database end of things, Getresponse’s pricing is really competitive too – you can sponsor a database comprising 1,000 email addresses for $15 per month using Getresponse, compared to $29 with Aweber; $59 on Campaign Monitor (infinite send).
Mailchimp’s monthly fee to get a 1,000 recording database will be the like Getresponse’s; and Mad Mimi provides a slightly cheaper, if much less functional offering for $12 per month.
Two final things to be aware of about the pricing :
Some competing providers — notably Mailchimp – offer free accounts for users with a few documents (but these do not offer the entire range of features that you get on a paid program ).
As mentioned earlier, if you’re ready to pay upfront for 1 or two years, you can avail of substantial discounts the other competitors don’t yet supply.
So the bottom line is that Getresponse is fairly competitive in the pricing department. However, what about features? Software De Email Marketing
Getresponse represents among the more cost-effective ways to host and communicate using an email database.
It is also among the most interesting products of its kind – because it provides email marketing, landing pages, CRM and webinars all under one roof. It is hard to think of any rival product that offers this’all around’ proposition, and it is what continues to persuade us to use it for Style Factory’s email marketing.
Some improvements to Getresponse do have to be made nonetheless, particularly where the email designer is concerned – its own drag and drop interface is more fiddly and less responsive than it should be. A good deal of improvements could be made into the data capture types also, especially for users wanting to exhibit them on mobile devices.
And from what I gather from reader opinions, there are developments that could be made into the service offering.
Overall though I rate Getresponse very highly – you receive considerable bang for your buck with this item.
