Up until quite recently Getresponse service was one of the most comprehensive available for email marketing tools: the firm offered phone support alongside live chat support, email service and various online tutorials / resources.

If you’re really unhappy with the templates provided by Getresponse, there’s also the choice of purchasing a template by a third party provider such as Theme Forest.

Landing page Builder
Online advertising campaigns which make use of landing pages will usually generate far more leads if, instead of simply directing people to some (cluttered!) Site, they tip users to attractive’squeeze pages’ containing clear info and a tidy, well-designed data capture type.

Also, and above all, you can’t utilize the landing page A/B testing performance on the cheapest Getresponse plan (whereby the machine shows a sample of your users different versions of your landing page, computes conversion rates, and finally rolls out the best performing landing page automatically).
If you’re serious about landing pages – plus they are unquestionably a useful feature – then it is definitely worth looking at one of the costlier Getresponse plans.
You can buy the Landing Pages attribute as an add-on to get an extra $15 a month, but very frustratingly, even though the add-on allows you to show an unlimited amount of landing pages to potential subscribers, it doesn’t include A/B testing.
Accordingly, if I was interested in the Getresponse landing page performance, I would not bother with this rather half-baked add-on: I would just go for a few of the pricier programs (which I guess is exactly what Getresponse would like one to do!) .
Getresponse was before its rivals for quite a while with its responsive email layout functionality, which automatically corrects your e-newsletter’s template so that when a user is reading it onto a mobile device, the layout and fonts will be automatically optimised for the device in question.
Most competing products have caught up on this now, and offer responsive email templates, but Getresponse is better than many similar goods when it comes to displaying a responsive record of your e-newsletter – you simply hit a’mobile preview’ button to get an instant snapshot of your email looks like on a smartphone (see image right).

Customer Relationship Management
One of the most frustrating aspects of utilizing many famous CRM tools is the need to export data to CSV and back to your email marketing instrument in order to perform mailouts (or the necessity to export data from your email marketing tool into your CRM to add prospects to it).
So when I saw Getresponse lately introducing a new CRM feature into their plans I was intrigued – this could possibly eliminate all that data exporting and importing, and keep everything neatly in one area.

The CRM is currently integrated with all of Getresponse’s email marketing operation and you can add users to a CRM pipeline according to their activity (form completions, email opens, purchases etc.) or activate autoresponders depending on the accession of a new contact to a pipeline stage.
An example of how you could use this functionality is as follows:
It is possible to add a contact to a particular point on a sales pipeline based on the page of your site that they completed a form ;
you could then send a automated email tailored to this pipeline period a couple of days later;
and based on the actions they took with regard to this email (clicking on a certain link etc) you could automatically move them on another stage of the pipeline and automatically invite them to a webinar.

However, it’s not all fantastic news about the CRM front there are a few big things missing out of Getresponse’s CRM attribute set.
The most glaring omission is email activity tracking. Other CRM packages allow you to bcc a dropbox email address whenever you send an email to a lead or customer; doing so keeps a record of the communication from the contact’s history. There is now no way of doing this with all the Getresponse CRM, nor is there an simple way to send one-to-one mails to prospects or clients.
And oddly, if you click a contact within a bargain pipeline, you can not see their contact action — i.e., the activities they’ve taken (open, clicks etc.) with regard to previous communications that you’ve sent to your prospects are not displayed. To see this, you have to go out of the CRM section of Getresponse, hunt for your own contact in the contacts section and then click on their details. But guess what? Doing so does not display their deal history.
Task management is non-existent too: unlike dedicated CRM tools, there is no way to assign tasks to other team members.
Finally, adding contacts to your pipeline stage is difficult. You need to add contacts to a list first, then visit the CRM pipeline, add a deal and hunt your lists to receive the contact you just added. From a usability point of view this is very clunky and time consuming. You should just be able to put in a deal directly to a pipeline and then enter the contact information of your lead or customer at that point.
So as things stand, the Getresponse CRM is somewhat half-baked. However, it is a new feature and the stuff it can perform on the automation side is remarkable. I am optimistic that this attribute gets developed over time because done right, it is possibly a game-changer for entrepreneurs and SMEs.
Getresponse recently introduced the capability to sponsor webinars on the platform.
Given that webinars are usually used as a lead-generation strategy, the notion of having your email database along with your webinar tool under the exact same roof is very appealing.
The pricing is also very competitive also compared to based webinar solutions. 1 area I feel that might be significantly better from a user-friendliness point of view is the Getresponse e-newsletter editor.
Whilst its drag-and-drop approach does in theory provide an extremely flexible approach to make blocks of articles and move them around an e-newsletter, in practice it is quite user friendly to use and may lead to accidental deletion of material, or placement of it in the wrong part of the e-newsletter.
If you can get your head around it, and practice using it a bit, it does make for a useful tool – it is only that the implementation of it could be somewhat better.
Additionally, as described above, the CRM tool might be better from a usability point of view — adding contacts to deals can be difficult.
The 30-day complimentary trial which Getresponse provides is fully operational and the free trial isn’t contingent upon supplying credit card details.
This makes it possible to avoid that annoying”oops I forgot I signed up for this particular trial and today I am getting charged for a commodity that I don’t use” scenario.
The only down side to this free trial is that it restricts the number of subscribers you can send to to 1000. It would be useful if this could be increased a bit, as it would help prospective users try the tool out in more’real world’ scenarios.

Some improvements to Getresponse do have to be made nonetheless, especially where the email designer is concerned – its drag and drop interface is more fiddly and less responsive than it ought to be.
