If I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what would you say? Rezora
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online industries now, email marketing has been Dominated by the identical large players for the previous ten years. Which means they get promoted very heavily and achieve a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, website, Business, address, business size, record size and even the type of content you intend to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Website (or domain name).
This remains part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain so they could email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed these Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Website, and ascertain whether you are a fantastic fit for their services.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these steps are not perfect for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But if it is a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not open your broadcast email, with the choice of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, most of these will follow Exactly the same step-by-step procedure of a normal effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Pick a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and select from among their pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, however, the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to add distinct Kinds of content to your email, including videos, product columns, and social connections.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ options where you are able to select your groups or sections.
The tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Rezora
Managing Your Clients
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You’re searching to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”tag” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified principles, and are automatically added or eliminated so.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also combine Rules, as well as an alternate rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and despite the difference in title, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation rule — that we will get to in a moment — and they don’t have any value besides what you actually call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple subscribers collectively according to a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they are discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular fields, such as name, business, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers along with Your custom field data in separate columns… or may simply add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added to a form:
I will not go too much to the form Things here since I have an entire section on this below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field data from fresh Subscribers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to understand that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is reasonable to state MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on stage. Rezora
If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen up to Now, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you will be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, it will offer a great base to work from if, like most people, you do not have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They finally do the same task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Adequate set of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover .
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to show it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer allows you To customize everything from the form style, fields, background, title, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To visualize your copy in real time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to some form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, such as adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded kind and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can assess how your form screens on mobile by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of this Embedded form but like I said before, you can also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this setup Procedure is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do provide a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new choices under form types This time around:
Contemplating paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup forms.
And, like before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched up with your branding.
Last, you can choose the near Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
This is where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special coverage for that effort.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of this report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see your readers interacted to another.
Reports for automations are also Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, although I found to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will find the available statistics more than sufficient to meet their demands.
What’s email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The good news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for every email advertising software.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an action, like transferring a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite ought to not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s currently no automation for transferring Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that trigger new automation workflows. It is just much less effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when creating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your topic line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, but once you’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email address will be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, which means you can get an idea of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is really much quicker than what I’m used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you’ll probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is 1 type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on the way Readers interact with all the webpages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting just isn’t accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you may want to skip this one. Rezora
The cost of MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the tools largest Selling things, and let us face it, we all love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your mails using this plan, it is still an amazing alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It ends up, at approximately half the Price of this competition generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the cheapest options available on the market. Plus, if you are willing to pay annually, you are also able to get an even better discount.
In Reality, I have not been able to find anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the email marketing tools to disrupt The (very crowded) sector in recent years, and that’s no simple feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
All in all, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking of giving it a spin? Let us know how it works for you In the comments. Rezora
