MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, site, Business, address, company size, list size and also the type of content you intend to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Website (or domain ).
This is still part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to this domain in order that they can email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Website, and determine whether you’re a good fit for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and play with the attributes, but you won’t be able to send anything before approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these measures are not ideal for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle Nearly all your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But if it’s a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular effort: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t start your broadcast email, together with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional choices, the Majority of these will follow The exact same step-by-step process of a normal effort.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and choose from one of the pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, but the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to include different Kinds of articles to your email, such as videos, product columns, and social links.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ options where you can select your classes or segments.
The advanced tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that is instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.

Handling Your Clients
Having granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most essential facets of any email marketing program today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You’re looking to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”label” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially principles.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified principles, and will be automatically added or removed so.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even combine Principles, in addition to an alternate rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and also the difference in name, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation principle — which we’ll get to in a moment — and they have no value besides what you call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in the event you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple subscribers together based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they’re optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular fields, such as name, business, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers together with Your custom field data in separate columns… or may easily add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added to a form:
I will not go too much to the shape Things here because I have an entire section on this below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field information from new Subscribers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important to know that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is fair to say MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on point. Open Rate Mailerlite
If you are not impressed with what you’ve seen so far, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, but it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, like the majority of us, you don’t have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the identical task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is better than some dedicated solutions *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really offers a Adequate set of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover .
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer lets you To personalize everything in the kind style, fields, background, title, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a Opportunity To envision your own copy in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to some form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form functions, such as adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded form also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can check how your form screens on mobile by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of the Embedded form but like I said before, you can also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this setup Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do provide a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is just as easy to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types Now around:
Considering paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the near Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
That is where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you specific coverage for this campaign.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of this report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see how your readers interacted to another.
Reports for automations are Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even although I found to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will get the available statistics more than sufficient to fulfill their needs.
What’s email advertising with no dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for every email marketing program.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a conditional split, or an action, such as transferring a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are innumerable Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s currently no automation for transferring Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that trigger new automation workflows. It is simply not as effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when creating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to add your topic line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, but once you’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email will be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, so it’s possible to get an concept about what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is really much faster than what I am utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll likely find this a downgrade in functionality.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s one type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on how Readers interact with the pages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting just isn’t accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Open Rate Mailerlite
The cost of MailerLite is one of those tools largest Selling points, and let’s face it, most of us love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this program, it’s still an amazing alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It turns out, at approximately half of the Price of this rivalry on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options on the industry. Additionally, if you’re ready to pay yearly, you are also able to get an even better discount.
In fact, I have not been able to locate anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the few advertising tools The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of decades, and that’s no simple feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
