MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?

Like most email advertising providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your organization name, website, Industry, address, company size, record size and also the type of content you plan to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Site (or domain ).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to that domain in order that they could email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you are a good fit for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to create campaigns and play with the attributes, but you won’t be able to send anything before accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
But while these steps aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from damaging everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle Nearly all your email advertising.
(We will get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But if it’s a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t start your broadcast email, with the choice of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional options, the Majority of these will follow The exact same step-by-step process of a normal campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Pick a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and select from one of the pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, but the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of content to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and social connections.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you can select your groups or segments.
The advanced tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules , in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Most Successful Email Marketing Campaigns
Managing Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most essential facets of any email marketing program today.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You are looking to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”label” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your readers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and will be automatically inserted or eliminated accordingly.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even blend Principles, as well as another rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and also the difference in name, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation principle — that we will get to in a minute — and they have no value besides what you actually call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple subscribers together based on a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they’re optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own fields, such as title, company, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers along with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or can easily add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added into a form:
I won’t go too much to the form Stuff here because I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field information from new Readers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important that you know that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is reasonable to state MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on stage. Most Successful Email Marketing Campaigns
If you are not impressed with what you’ve seen up to Now, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it will offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, like the majority people, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the identical job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and this is already better than a few dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually offers a Decent set of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a lot to cover .
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your site to display it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer allows you To personalize everything in the kind style, fields, background, name, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To visualize your copy in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to some form than simply its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form functions, such as adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That can replace the embedded kind and prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can check the way your form screens on mobile by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of this Embedded form but as I said before, you may also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the installation Procedure is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do provide a good foundation to work from and the editor is just as simple to use for this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new choices under form types This time around:
Considering paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Last, you can Select the close Behavior of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special reporting for that effort.
This is where you’ll find some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of this report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see exactly how your readers interacted with your emails in relation to one another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, though I found to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will get the available data more than sufficient to fulfill their needs.
What is email advertising without a dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The great news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for every email advertising software.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a bubble break, or an act, like moving a contributor or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite ought to have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks a number of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s now no automation for transferring Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that trigger new automation workflows. It is just much less effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when creating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your topic line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email will be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, so you can find an idea about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it is actually much quicker than what I am utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you will probably find this a downgrade in functionality.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is 1 Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on how Readers interact with the pages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting only isn’t available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Most Successful Email Marketing Campaigns
The Price of MailerLite is one of the tools biggest Selling things, and let us face it, most of us love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your mails using this program, it’s still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It ends up, at around half the Price of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far one of the least expensive options available on the market. Plus, if you’re ready to pay annually, you can also get a much greater discount.
In Reality, I have not been able to find anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those email advertising tools to disrupt The (very crowded) sector in recent years, and that’s no easy feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
