Introduction Miller Lite Logo
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what could you say? Miller Lite Logo
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online businesses now, email marketing has been Dominated by the identical large players for the previous decade. Which means that they get promoted very heavily and achieve a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.

Like most email advertising providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, website, Industry, address, business size, list size and also the type of material you plan to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Website (or domain ).
This remains part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to this domain so they can email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed those Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Website, and ascertain whether you are a good fit for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to make campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these steps aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle The majority of your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But if it’s a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not start your broadcast email, together with the choice of changing the subject line and email articles.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few added options, the Majority of these will follow The same step-by-step procedure of a standard campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and choose from among the pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, however, the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I will select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to add distinct Types of content to your email, such as videos, product columns, and societal connections.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you are able to choose your groups or segments.
The tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that is instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Miller Lite Logo
Handling Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email marketing software now.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You’re looking to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified rules, and will be automatically added or removed so.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also combine Principles, as well as an alternate rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and despite the difference in name, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation rule — that we’ll get to in a moment — and they don’t have any value besides what you call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple contributors collectively according to a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they’re discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own areas, such as name, business, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers along with Your custom field data in separate columns… or may easily add these fields to a types which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added to a form:
I won’t go too much into the form Stuff here because I have an entire section on this below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field information from new Subscribers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important to understand that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on point. Miller Lite Logo
If you are not impressed by what you’ve seen up to Now, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, it will offer a fantastic base to work from if, for example the majority of us, you do not have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all ultimately do the same job; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is better than a few dedicated solutions *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Decent set of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover .
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the form style, fields, background, name, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to some form than simply its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form works, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That will replace the embedded form and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on mobile by switching the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of the Embedded form but like I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation Procedure is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do provide a good base to work from and the editor is just as easy to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched up with your branding.
Finally, you can choose the near Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
This is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber development, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific reporting for that campaign.
This is where you’ll discover a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of the report for a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see exactly how your subscribers interacted to another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will find the available data more than enough to meet their needs.
What is email advertising without a dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising software.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an action, like transferring a contributor or updating their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for moving Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that trigger new automation workflows. It’s simply much less effective…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when creating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your subject line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email address will be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, which means it’s possible to get an concept of what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s really much faster than what I’m utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you’ll probably find that this downgrade in functionality.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is one type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and that I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on how Subscribers interact with all the pages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Miller Lite Logo
The cost of MailerLite is among those tools largest Selling things, and let’s face it, we all love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your mails using this plan, it is still an wonderful alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It turns out, at around half the Cost of the competition on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the least expensive options available on the industry. Plus, if you’re willing to pay yearly, you can also get a much better discount.
In fact, I have not been able to locate anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the very few email advertising tools to disrupt The (very crowded) industry in recent years, and that’s no easy feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
All in all, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
