If I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what would you say? Miller Lite Canada Facebook
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online industries today, email marketing continues to be Dominated by the same large players for the last ten years. Which means they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So now, in this review, I’ll be tearing MailerLite from limb To limb to find out whether it stands its own ground against the big boys…

Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Business, address, company size, list size and even the kind of content you plan to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Website (or domain ).
This remains part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is related to this domain so they could email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed those Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you’re a good match for their services.
(Quite simply, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and perform with the features, but you will not be able to send anything until accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these steps aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with Nearly all your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But whether it is a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not start your broadcast email, with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional choices, most of these will follow The exact same step-by-step procedure of a standard effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Select a preferred editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and select from one of the pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, but the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to add different Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, product columns, and social connections.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ options where you are able to choose your groups or sections.
The advanced tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Miller Lite Canada Facebook
Managing Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably among The most essential facets of any email marketing software today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You’re searching to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”label” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially principles.
Your readers belong to a segment only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and will be automatically inserted or removed so.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even combine Principles, in addition to an alternate rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and despite the difference in title, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation principle — which we’ll get to in a moment — and they don’t have any value aside from what you actually call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple subscribers together according to a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they’re discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own areas, such as name, company, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers together with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or may easily add these fields to your forms which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added to a form:
I won’t go too much to the shape Things here since I have an entire section on this below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field information from fresh Readers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important to understand this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to state MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on stage. Miller Lite Canada Facebook
If you’re not impressed with what you’ve seen up to Now, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you will be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, it does offer a great foundation to work from if, for example most people, you do not have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They ultimately do the identical job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is already better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Decent set of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover .
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your site to show it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer lets you To customize everything in the form style, fields, background, name, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own backup in real time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to a form than just its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form functions, including adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That will replace the embedded form also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on cellular by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of the Embedded form but as I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the setup process is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do provide a fantastic base to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use for this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types Now around:
Considering paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched up with your branding.
Finally, you can Select the close Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have .
That is really where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber development, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special reporting for that campaign.
This is where you’ll find some statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of this report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see your subscribers interacted with your mails in relation to another.
Reports for automations are also Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, though I found to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will find the available statistics more than enough to fulfill their demands.
What is email advertising with no dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for every email advertising program.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a bubble break, or an act, such as transferring a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for moving Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that trigger new automation workflows. It’s simply much less effective…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when generating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your subject line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, but once you’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, so it’s possible to get an idea about what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it is actually much quicker than what I am used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you will likely find this a downgrade in functionality.
It’s quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is one Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, also that I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on how Readers interact with all the pages on your site.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just is not available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Miller Lite Canada Facebook
The Price of MailerLite is among those tools biggest Selling things, and let us face it, most of us love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your mails using this plan, it is still an wonderful option for anyone starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It ends up, at around half of the Price of this competition on average, MailerLite is by far among the cheapest options available on the industry. Plus, if you’re willing to pay yearly, you can also get an even better discount.
In fact, I have not been able to find anything that does the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those few marketing tools The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of years, and that’s no simple feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
All in all, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking of giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you From the remarks. Miller Lite Canada Facebook
