Intro Mailerlite WordPress
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what could you say? Mailerlite WordPress
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online industries today, email marketing has been Dominated by the identical large players for the previous ten years. Which means that they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So today, in this review, I will be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to see whether it really stands its own ground against the big boys…
…and, more importantly, whether youshould consider making the switch.

Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your company name, website, Business, address, business size, list size and even the type of material you intend to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Website (or domain name).
This remains part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to that domain so they can email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed those Steps, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Website, and ascertain whether you’re a good match for their service.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
But while these steps are not perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to handle Nearly all your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But whether it’s a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t start your broadcast email, together with the choice of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional options, the Majority of these will follow The same step-by-step procedure of a normal effort.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and choose from one of the pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, but the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to add different Kinds of articles to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and societal connections.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ options where you can choose your groups or sections.
The tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite WordPress
Handling Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most important facets of any email marketing program now.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You’re looking to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”tag” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified principles, and are automatically added or eliminated accordingly.
Here’s what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even combine Rules, as well as another rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and despite the difference in title, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation rule — that we will get to in a moment — and they have no value besides what you call them.
As you Begin to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple contributors together based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they’re discretionary.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular areas, such as name, business, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers along with Your custom field information in separate columns… or can simply add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added to a form:
I won’t go too much into the shape Stuff here because I have an entire section on this below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field data from new Readers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important that you know that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on stage. Mailerlite WordPress
If you are not impressed with what you have seen up to Now, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, but it will offer a great base to work from if, like most of us, you don’t have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They ultimately do the identical task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is better than a few dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really Provides a Decent set of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a lot to cover here.
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer lets you To personalize everything from the kind style, fields, background, title, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To envision your own copy in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to a form than simply its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And talking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded kind also prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can check the way your form screens on cellular by switching the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of this Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth selection, they do provide a fantastic base to work from and the editor is just as simple to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types Now around:
Considering paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched up with your branding.
Finally, you can choose the near Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
This is where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special reporting for that effort.
This is where you’ll find some statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of the report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see your subscribers interacted with your emails compared to another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found these to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will find the available statistics more than sufficient to fulfill their demands.
What’s email marketing without a dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The good news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for each and every email marketing program.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a conditional split, or an action, such as moving a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite ought to not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s currently no automation for transferring Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that activate new automation workflows. It’s just much less effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when generating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, but once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, so it’s possible to get an idea about what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it’s actually much faster than what I am utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you will likely find this a downgrade in performance.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is one type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or measure ) based on the way Readers interact with the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Mailerlite WordPress
The Price of MailerLite is undoubtedly among those tools biggest Selling things, and let us face it, we all love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this plan, it’s still an amazing alternative for those starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It turns out, at around half of the Cost of this rivalry on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the cheapest options on the industry. Plus, if you’re willing to pay yearly, you can also get a much better discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the email advertising tools to interrupt The (very crowded) industry in recent decades, which is no simple feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
Thinking about giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you In the remarks. Mailerlite WordPress
