Intro Mailerlite Webinar
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what could you say? Mailerlite Webinar
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses now, email advertising continues to be Dominated by the identical big players for the last ten years. Which means that they get promoted very heavily and achieve a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, causing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So today, in this review, I’ll be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to see whether it stands its own ground against the big boys…

Like most email advertising providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your company name, website, Industry, address, business size, record size and also the type of content you intend to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Site (or domain ).
This remains part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to this domain in order that they can email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Site, and determine whether you’re a fantastic match for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
But while these steps aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from damaging everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to handle The majority of your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But if it is a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not start your broadcast email, together with the choice of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional choices, most of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step process of a standard campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Pick a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and select from among their pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to add different Types of content to your email, including videos, product columns, and societal links.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ options where you are able to choose your classes or sections.
The tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules , in the event your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Webinar
Managing Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most important facets of any email marketing software today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”label” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified principles, and are automatically inserted or eliminated so.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also blend Rules, in addition to an alternate rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and despite the difference in title, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation rule — that we’ll get into in a moment — and they have no value aside from what you actually call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple subscribers collectively according to a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they’re optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular fields, such as name, business, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers along with Your custom field data in separate columns… or can simply add these fields to a forms which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added into a form:
I will not go too much into the shape Stuff here because I have an entire section on this below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field data from fresh Readers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important to know this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is reasonable to state MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on point. Mailerlite Webinar
If you are not impressed with what you’ve seen so far, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you will be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, like the majority of us, you do not have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all ultimately do the same job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is already better than a few dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Adequate pair of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to show it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer lets you To customize everything in the form style, subjects, background, title, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a Opportunity To envision your own backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to some form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form works, including adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, That will replace the embedded kind and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can assess how your form screens on cellular by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the installation process is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth selection, they do offer a fantastic base to work from and the editor is just as simple to use with this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types This time around:
Considering paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the close Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
This is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special reporting for this effort.
This is where you’ll discover a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of the report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see your readers interacted with your mails compared to one another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found these to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will find the available data more than sufficient to meet their demands.
What is email advertising without a dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The good news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, then You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for every email advertising software.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an action, like moving a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite ought to not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks a number of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s currently no automation for transferring Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that activate new automation workflows. It is just not as efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when generating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your subject line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email will be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, which means you can find an concept of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s really much faster than what I’m used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you will likely find that this downgrade in functionality.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is one Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or measure ) based on how Subscribers interact with all the webpages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting just isn’t available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Mailerlite Webinar
The cost of MailerLite is no doubt one of the tools largest Selling points, and let’s face it, we all love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your emails using this program, it is still an amazing alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It turns out, at approximately half the Cost of the rivalry on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the cheapest options on the industry. Additionally, if you are willing to pay annually, you are also able to get a much greater discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to find anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the very few marketing tools The (very crowded) industry in recent decades, and that’s no easy feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking about giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you In the comments. Mailerlite Webinar
