Intro Mailerlite Subscription
If I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what would you say? Mailerlite Subscription
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses now, email advertising continues to be Dominated by the same big players for the last ten years. Which means that they get encouraged very deeply and achieve a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So today, in this short article, I’ll be tearing MailerLite from limb To limb to see if it stands its own ground against the big boys…

Like most email advertising providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, site, Industry, address, company size, list size and even the type of content you plan to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Website (or domain name).
This remains part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain so they could email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Website, and ascertain whether you are a good fit for their service.
(Quite simply, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t be able to send anything until approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these measures are not ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from damaging everybody’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle Nearly all your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But whether it is a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from name and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t start your broadcast email, together with the choice of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step process of a normal effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and select from among the pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to add different Types of content to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and social links.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ options where you can select your classes or sections.
The tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Subscription
Managing Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most essential facets of any email advertising software today.
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You are searching to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”tag” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified rules, and are automatically inserted or removed accordingly.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also combine Rules, as well as another rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and also the difference in name, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation rule — that we will get to in a moment — and they have no value aside from what you call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple contributors together based on a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they are discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular areas, such as title, company, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers along with Your custom field data in separate columns… or can easily add these fields to a types which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added to a form:
I will not go too much into the form Things here since I have a whole section on that below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field information from fresh Readers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to know that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on point. Mailerlite Subscription
If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen so far, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you will be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, it does offer a fantastic base to work from if, for example the majority of us, you don’t have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They ultimately do the same task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is better than some dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Adequate set of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a lot to cover here.
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to display it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer allows you To customize everything from the kind style, fields, background, title, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a Opportunity To visualize your backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to some form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form works, including adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And talking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded form also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can assess how your form screens on mobile by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of this Embedded form but as I said before, you may also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the setup process is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do offer a good base to work from and the editor is just as simple to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types Now around:
Considering paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Last, you can Select the near Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber development, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special reporting for this effort.
This is where you’ll discover a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of this report for a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see precisely how your readers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even although I found these to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will get the available statistics more than enough to fulfill their needs.
What is email marketing with no dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for each and every email marketing program.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, including a Delay, a conditional split, or an action, such as moving a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities in regards to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s currently no automation for moving Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that trigger new automation workflows. It’s simply much less efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when creating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your topic line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, but once you’ve created your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email address will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, which means you can find an concept about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is actually much quicker than what I am used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll probably find this a downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is one type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also that I think it’s important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on the way Readers interact with all the pages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting just isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Mailerlite Subscription
The Price of MailerLite is among those tools largest Selling points, and let us face it, we all love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this program, it’s still an wonderful option for those starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It ends up, at approximately half the Price of this rivalry generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options available on the market. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay annually, you can also get an even greater discount.
In fact, I have not been able to locate anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the very few email advertising tools to interrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of years, and that’s no easy feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
Thinking about giving it a spin? Let us know how it works for you From the remarks. Mailerlite Subscription
