MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online industries now, email advertising has been Dominated by the same big players for the last decade. Which means that they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, causing long-time customers to question their loyalties.

Like most email advertising providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Industry, address, business size, list size and also the kind of content you plan to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Website (or domain ).
This is still part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to that domain in order that they could email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you are a fantastic match for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you will not be able to send anything before accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these steps are not perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to handle Nearly all your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But if it’s a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t start your broadcast email, with the choice of changing the subject line and email articles.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional choices, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step procedure of a normal campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Select a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and choose from among the pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, however, the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to include different Kinds of content to your email, including videos, product columns, and societal links.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you are able to choose your classes or sections.
The advanced tab also allows one To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Instafreebie
Handling Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your readers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email marketing program today.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You are searching to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and will be automatically inserted or eliminated accordingly.
Here’s what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even blend Rules, in addition to another rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and also the difference in title, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation principle — that we’ll get into in a minute — and they have no value besides what you actually call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple subscribers collectively based on a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they’re discretionary.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own areas, such as title, company, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers along with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or may easily add these fields to your types which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added into a form:
I will not go too much to the shape Stuff here since I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field data from new Readers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to know that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to state MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on point. Mailerlite Instafreebie
If you are not impressed with what you have seen so far, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it does offer a great foundation to work from if, for example most of us, you don’t have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They ultimately do the identical task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is better than a few dedicated solutions *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Decent pair of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to display it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer lets you To customize everything in the kind style, fields, background, name, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To visualize your copy in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to a form than simply its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form works, such as adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That can replace the embedded form and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can assess how your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of the Embedded form but like I said before, you can also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation process is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do offer a good base to work from and the editor is just as simple to use with this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types This time around:
Considering paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Last, you can Select the close Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
That is where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber development, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific coverage for that effort.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of this report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see how your subscribers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will find the available statistics more than enough to meet their demands.
What is email marketing without a dash of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, then You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for every email advertising software.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, including a Delay, a bubble break, or an action, like moving a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s now no automation for moving Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that activate new automation workflows. It is just not as effective…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when creating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Finally, your email will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, which means you can get an concept of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it’s really much faster than what I’m used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you will probably find this a downgrade in performance.
It’s quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s one Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on the way Subscribers interact with all the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you may want to skip this one. Mailerlite Instafreebie
The cost of MailerLite is no doubt one of those tools biggest Selling things, and let’s face it, we all love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your mails using this program, it is still an amazing alternative for those starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It turns out, at around half of the Cost of this rivalry on average, MailerLite is by far one of the cheapest options on the industry. Additionally, if you’re ready to pay annually, you can also get an even greater discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to find anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those very few advertising tools to interrupt The (very crowded) sector in recent decades, and that’s no simple feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
