Introduction Mailerlite Forms
If I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what could you say? Mailerlite Forms
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses now, email advertising continues to be Dominated by the identical large players for the previous decade. Which means that they get encouraged very deeply and achieve a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.

Like most email marketing providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, site, Industry, address, company size, list size and also the type of material you intend to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Site (or domain name).
This is still part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to this domain so they could email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Website, and determine whether you are a good fit for their service.
(In other words, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to make campaigns and play with the attributes, but you won’t be able to send anything before accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these steps are not ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with The majority of your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But if it’s a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not open your broadcast email, with the option of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS campaign: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional options, most of these will follow The same step-by-step process of a standard campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Pick a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and choose from one of the pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of content to your email, such as videos, product columns, and societal links.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ options where you can choose your groups or sections.
The advanced tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules , in the event your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Forms
Handling Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably among The most important facets of any email marketing program today.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”tag” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified rules, and will be automatically inserted or eliminated so.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even combine Principles, as well as an alternate rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and also the difference in name, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation principle — which we will get into in a moment — and they have no value aside from what you actually call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple subscribers together according to a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they are discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular areas, such as title, company, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or may simply add these fields to a types which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added to a form:
I won’t go too much to the shape Stuff here because I have a whole section on that below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field information from new Subscribers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important that you understand this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on stage. Mailerlite Forms
If you’re not impressed by what you have seen so far, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you will be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a fantastic base to work from if, like the majority of us, you do not have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They ultimately do the identical job; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than a few dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Decent pair of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a lot to cover here.
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer lets you To customize everything in the kind style, fields, background, title, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To envision your own copy in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to some form than just its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form functions, such as adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded form and prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can assess how your form screens on cellular by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of this Embedded form but like I said before, you may also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the installation process is identical, you will find A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do offer a fantastic base to work from and the editor is just as simple to use for this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types This time around:
Contemplating paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Finally, you can choose the close Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
That is really where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special reporting for that effort.
This is where you’ll find a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of this report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see precisely how your subscribers interacted with your emails compared to another.
Reports for automations are also Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, although I found to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will get the available statistics more than sufficient to meet their demands.
What’s email advertising without a dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The good news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, then You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for every email marketing software.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a bubble break, or an action, such as transferring a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these actions can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that activate new automation workflows. It’s just much less effective…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when generating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your subject line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve created your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, so you can find an concept of what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it is actually much quicker than what I am used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll probably find that this downgrade in functionality.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is 1 type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, also that I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or measure ) based on the way Subscribers interact with all the webpages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting just isn’t accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you may want to skip this one. Mailerlite Forms
The Price of MailerLite is undoubtedly one of those tools biggest Selling things, and let’s face it, most of us love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your mails using this plan, it’s still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It turns out, at around half of the Cost of this rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far one of the cheapest options available on the market. Additionally, if you are willing to pay yearly, you can also get an even better discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those few marketing tools to disrupt The (very crowded) sector in recent years, and that’s no simple feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking of giving it a spin? Let us know how it works for you From the remarks. Mailerlite Forms
