MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?

Like most email advertising providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your company name, website, Business, address, company size, record size and even the type of material you intend to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Site (or domain ).
This remains part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to that domain so they could email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Website, and determine whether you’re a fantastic fit for their services.
(In other words, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and perform with the features, but you will not be able to send anything until approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these measures are not perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to handle Nearly all your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But whether it’s a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t start your broadcast email, with the option of changing the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional choices, most of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step process of a normal campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Select a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and choose from among the pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I will choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to add different Types of articles to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and social connections.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you can select your groups or sections.
The advanced tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Deliverability Issues
Managing Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your readers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email advertising program now.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You are searching to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially principles.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and will be automatically inserted or removed so.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even combine Rules, as well as an alternate rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and also the difference in name, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation rule — that we will get to in a minute — and they have no value besides what you actually call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple contributors collectively based on a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they are optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular areas, such as name, business, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers along with Your custom field information in separate columns… or can easily add these fields to your forms which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added into a form:
I won’t go too much to the form Things here since I have a whole section on that below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field data from new Readers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important to know that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s fair to state MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on point. Mailerlite Deliverability Issues
If you’re not impressed by what you have seen so far, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, but it will offer a fantastic base to work from if, for example most people, you do not have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They all ultimately do the identical task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is already better than some dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually offers a Decent pair of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover .
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to show it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer allows you To customize everything in the form style, fields, background, title, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To visualize your backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to some form than just its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form works, including adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded kind also prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can assess how your form screens on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of the Embedded form but like I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation Procedure is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do offer a fantastic base to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use for this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the near Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you specific reporting for this campaign.
This is where you’ll find a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of the report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see your readers interacted to another.
Reports for automations will also be Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, though I found these to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will get the available data more than sufficient to fulfill their demands.
What’s email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The good news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising program.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an action, such as transferring a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s now no automation for transferring Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that trigger new automation workflows. It is just much less effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when creating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, however, once you’ve created your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, so you can find an concept of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s really much quicker than what I’m utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, so you will probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It’s quick enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is 1 type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on how Subscribers interact with the webpages on your site.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only is not accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you might want to skip this one. Mailerlite Deliverability Issues
The Price of MailerLite is undoubtedly among those tools largest Selling points, and let us face it, we all love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your mails using this plan, it’s still an amazing alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It turns out, at approximately half the Cost of this rivalry on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the cheapest options available on the industry. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay yearly, you are also able to get an even better discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those very few advertising tools The (very crowded) sector in recent years, which is no easy feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
Thinking about giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you From the remarks. Mailerlite Deliverability Issues
