Introduction Mailer Design Software
If I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what could you say? Mailer Design Software
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses now, email advertising has been Dominated by the identical big players for the previous ten years. Which means they get encouraged very deeply and achieve a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.
So today, in this review, I will be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to see if it stands its ground against the big boys…

Like most email marketing providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your company name, website, Industry, address, business size, record size and also the type of content you intend to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Website (or domain ).
This remains part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain in order that they could email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Website, and determine whether you are a fantastic fit for their services.
(In other words, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you will not be able to send anything before approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these measures aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from damaging everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with Nearly all your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But whether it is a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t start your broadcast email, with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional options, most of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step procedure of a normal campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Pick a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can change to the Templates tab and choose from one of the pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, but the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to add distinct Kinds of content to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and societal connections.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you are able to choose your classes or segments.
The advanced tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules , in case your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailer Design Software
Managing Your Clients
Having granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most important aspects of any email marketing software now.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You are searching to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified principles, and will be automatically inserted or eliminated accordingly.
Here’s what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also combine Principles, in addition to an alternate rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and despite the difference in name, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation rule — that we’ll get to in a moment — and they don’t have any value besides what you actually call them.
As you Begin to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple subscribers together based on a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they are optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own areas, such as title, company, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field data in separate columns… or can simply add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added into a form:
I won’t go too much into the form Things here since I have a whole section on that below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field information from new Readers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important to know this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s fair to state MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on stage. Mailer Design Software
If you are not impressed with what you have seen up to Now, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, it will offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, for example the majority people, you don’t have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They finally do the identical job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and this is better than a few dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Decent pair of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to display it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the form style, fields, background, name, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To visualize your copy in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to some form than just its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form works, such as adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded form also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of the Embedded form but like I said before, you can also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the installation process is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do provide a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is just as easy to use for this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new choices under form types This time around:
Considering paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Finally, you can Select the near Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber development, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special reporting for that campaign.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of this report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see your readers interacted with your emails in relation to another.
Reports for automations are also Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, though I found these to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will get the available data more than enough to meet their demands.
What’s email advertising with no dash of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for every email marketing program.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a conditional split, or an act, such as transferring a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they do not open my email within seven days.
There are innumerable Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s now no automation for moving Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that activate new automation workflows. It’s just much less effective…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when generating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your topic line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email address will be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, so you can find an idea about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is actually much faster than what I’m used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, so you will likely find that this downgrade in functionality.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s 1 Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, also I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on the way Readers interact with the webpages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Mailer Design Software
The cost of MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the tools largest Selling things, and let’s face it, we all love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your mails using this plan, it’s still an amazing alternative for those starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It turns out, at approximately half of the Price of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options available on the industry. Plus, if you’re willing to pay yearly, you can also get a much better discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those very few email advertising tools The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of years, which is no easy feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
