Introduction Isik Mail
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what could you say? Isik Mail
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses now, email advertising continues to be Dominated by the same big players for the previous decade. Which means that they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.
So now, in this review, I will be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to find out whether it stands its own ground against the big boys…

Like most email advertising providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your organization name, website, Industry, address, company size, record size and also the kind of content you plan to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Site (or domain name).
This is still part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain in order that they could email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Website, and determine whether you are a good match for their services.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t be able to send anything until approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these measures are not perfect for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with Nearly all your email marketing.
(We will get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But if it is a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t start your broadcast email, with the choice of changing the subject line and email articles.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few added choices, most of these will follow The same step-by-step procedure of a normal campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Pick a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and select from one of their pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, however, the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I will choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to include distinct Types of articles to your email, such as videos, product columns, and social links.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you are able to select your classes or segments.
The advanced tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that is immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Isik Mail
Managing Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”tag” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified principles, and are automatically added or removed so.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even blend Principles, in addition to an alternate rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and despite the difference in name, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation rule — which we will get into in a minute — and they have no value aside from what you actually call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple subscribers together based on a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they’re optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own areas, such as title, business, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field data in separate columns… or can easily add these fields to a types which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added to a form:
I won’t go too much into the shape Things here since I have an entire section on that below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field data from new Readers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important that you understand this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is fair to say MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on point. Isik Mail
If you are not impressed with what you have seen so far, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a fantastic base to work from if, like the majority people, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all ultimately do the same job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and this is better than a few dedicated solutions *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really offers a Decent set of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover here.
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to display it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the form style, subjects, background, title, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To visualize your backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to a form than simply its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form functions, including adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, That will replace the embedded kind and prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can check how your form displays on cellular by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of this Embedded form but as I said before, you may also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the setup Procedure is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do offer a fantastic base to work from and the editor is just as easy to use for this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types Now around:
Considering paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the near Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text choice, or have .
That is really where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber development, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special reporting for that campaign.
This is where you’ll find some statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of the report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see your readers interacted with your emails in relation to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will find the available data more than enough to fulfill their demands.
What is email marketing without a dash of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email marketing program.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an action, such as transferring a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they do not open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite ought to not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for moving Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that activate new automation workflows. It is just much less effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when creating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, so it’s possible to get an concept about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it’s really much faster than what I’m used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll probably find this a downgrade in performance.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s 1 type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also that I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on how Subscribers interact with the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you might want to skip this one. Isik Mail
The Price of MailerLite is no doubt among the tools largest Selling things, and let’s face it, most of us love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your emails using this plan, it’s still an amazing alternative for those starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It ends up, at approximately half the Price of the competition generally, MailerLite is by far one of the cheapest options available on the market. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay annually, you can also get a much better discount.
In Reality, I have not been able to find anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those few email marketing tools The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of years, which is no easy feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
Thinking of giving it a spin? Let us know how it works for you From the comments. Isik Mail
