Background Is Mailerlite Any Good
When I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what would you say? Is Mailerlite Any Good
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online industries now, email marketing continues to be Dominated by the identical large players for the previous decade. Which means that they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your organization name, site, Business, address, company size, record size and even the type of material you intend to send.
Then, you need to verify your Website (or domain ).
This remains part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is related to this domain in order that they could email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Site, and ascertain whether you’re a good match for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to make campaigns and perform with the features, but you won’t be able to send anything before approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these measures are not perfect for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to handle Nearly all your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But if it’s a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not start your broadcast email, with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few added options, most of these will follow The same step-by-step process of a standard campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Select a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can change to the Templates tab and choose from one of their pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to add different Kinds of content to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and social links.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you are able to choose your classes or segments.
The advanced tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules , in the event your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Is Mailerlite Any Good
Handling Your Clients
Having granular control over your readers is arguably among The most important facets of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You are searching to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”label” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your readers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified principles, and are automatically inserted or removed so.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also combine Principles, as well as an alternate rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and also the difference in title, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation rule — which we’ll get to in a moment — and they have no value besides what you call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple contributors collectively based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they are discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular fields, such as name, business, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or can easily add these fields to your types which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added into a form:
I won’t go too much into the shape Stuff here since I have an entire section on that below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field information from fresh Subscribers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important that you understand that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on point. Is Mailerlite Any Good
If you’re not impressed with what you’ve seen up to Now, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you will be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, it does offer a great base to work from if, for example most of us, you do not have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They ultimately do the same task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and this is already better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really offers a Decent set of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a lot to cover here.
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to display it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer lets you To personalize everything from the form style, fields, background, title, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own copy in real time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to some form than just its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure how the Form works, including adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That will replace the embedded kind also prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can check how your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of the Embedded form but like I said before, you can also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the setup process is identical, there are A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do offer a good foundation to work from and the editor is just as easy to use with this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types This time around:
Considering paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched up with your branding.
Last, you can choose the close Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
That is really where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific reporting for that campaign.
This is where you’ll discover a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of this report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see your subscribers interacted to another.
Reports for automations will also be Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will get the available data more than sufficient to meet their needs.
What is email marketing with no dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for every email marketing software.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an act, such as transferring a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite ought to have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks a number of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s now no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these actions can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that trigger new automation workflows. It’s simply much less effective…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when creating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your subject line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Finally, your email address will be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, which means it’s possible to get an concept of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s really much quicker than what I’m used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s 1 type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also I think it’s important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or measure ) based on how Readers interact with the pages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting only isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you may want to skip this one. Is Mailerlite Any Good
The Price of MailerLite is no doubt among those tools biggest Selling points, and let us face it, we all love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your emails using this plan, it is still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It turns out, at approximately half the Price of this rivalry on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options on the industry. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay annually, you are also able to get an even greater discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the very few email advertising tools to disrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, which is no simple feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
