Introduction Grow Email Marketing List
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what would you say? Grow Email Marketing List
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses today, email advertising has been Dominated by the identical large players for the last decade. Which means they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.

Like most email advertising providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Business, address, company size, list size and even the kind of content you plan to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Website (or domain ).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to this domain so they can email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Website, and determine whether you’re a fantastic fit for their services.
(Quite simply, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you will not be able to send anything before approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
But while these measures are not ideal for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to handle Nearly all your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations soon, don’t worry.)
But if it’s a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not start your broadcast email, with the choice of changing the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few added options, most of these will follow Exactly the same step-by-step procedure of a standard effort.
So let us walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Pick a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can change to the Templates tab and select from among the pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to add distinct Kinds of content to your email, including videos, product columns, and social links.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you can choose your groups or sections.
The advanced tab also allows you To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Grow Email Marketing List
Managing Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably among The most important facets of any email advertising program now.
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You are searching to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”label” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different strategy.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified principles, and are automatically inserted or removed so.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also combine Principles, as well as another rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and also the difference in title, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation principle — which we’ll get into in a minute — and they don’t have any value aside from what you call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple subscribers collectively based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they are discretionary.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own areas, such as title, company, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers together with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or can simply add these fields to your types which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added to a form:
I won’t go too much to the form Stuff here since I have a whole section on that below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field information from fresh Subscribers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important that you understand that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s fair to say MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on stage. Grow Email Marketing List
If you are not impressed by what you’ve seen so far, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you will be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a fantastic base to work from if, for example most of us, you don’t have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They all finally do the identical task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and this is better than a few dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually offers a Decent pair of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a lot to cover here.
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to show it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer lets you To personalize everything in the form style, fields, background, title, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a Opportunity To envision your own copy in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to a form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, such as adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That will replace the embedded form and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can check the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of this Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the setup process is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do offer a fantastic base to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types This time around:
Contemplating paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Finally, you can choose the close Behavior of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have .
This is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special reporting for this effort.
This is where you’ll discover some statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of this report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see exactly how your subscribers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations are Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will get the available statistics more than sufficient to fulfill their needs.
What’s email advertising with no dash of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for every email advertising software.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a conditional split, or an action, such as moving a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite ought to have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s currently no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that trigger new automation workflows. It’s just much less efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when creating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, so you can find an concept of what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is actually much quicker than what I’m used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll probably find this a downgrade in functionality.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is one Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also that I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on the way Subscribers interact with the webpages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting just is not accessible MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Grow Email Marketing List
The Price of MailerLite is among the tools largest Selling points, and let’s face it, we all love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your emails using this plan, it is still an wonderful alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It turns out, at around half of the Cost of the competition generally, MailerLite is by far one of the least expensive options on the market. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay annually, you can also get an even better discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the very few marketing tools to interrupt The (very crowded) industry in recent decades, which is no easy feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
