Background Green Arrow Email
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what could you say? Green Arrow Email
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online industries now, email marketing has been Dominated by the same big players for the last ten years. Which means they get promoted very heavily and achieve a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, inducing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So today, in this review, I’ll be tearing MailerLite from limb To limb to see whether it really stands its ground against the big boys…

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Business, address, company size, record size and also the type of material you intend to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Website (or domain name).
This remains part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is related to that domain in order that they can email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Website, and ascertain whether you’re a good match for their services.
(Quite simply, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and perform with the features, but you will not have the ability to send anything before approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these measures are not ideal for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But if it’s a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular effort: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t start your broadcast email, with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional choices, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step procedure of a normal campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and choose from one of their pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, but the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to add different Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and social links.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you are able to choose your classes or sections.
The advanced tab also allows you To build segment-like rules , in case your targeting is not quite right.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Green Arrow Email
Handling Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most essential aspects of any email marketing software today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You’re looking to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”label” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified principles, and are automatically added or removed so.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even combine Rules, as well as an alternate rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and also the difference in title, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation principle — that we will get to in a minute — and they have no value aside from what you call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple contributors collectively based on a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they’re discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own fields, such as name, company, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers along with Your custom field data in separate columns… or can simply add these fields to a forms which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added to a form:
I won’t go too much to the form Stuff here because I have a whole section on this below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field data from new Subscribers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you understand that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s fair to say MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on point. Green Arrow Email
If you’re not impressed with what you have seen so far, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, but it does offer a great foundation to work from if, like most people, you do not have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They all ultimately do the same task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is already better than some dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really Provides a Decent pair of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a lot to cover .
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer allows you To customize everything from the kind style, subjects, background, title, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To envision your own backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to a form than simply its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure how the Form works, including adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That will replace the embedded form also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of this Embedded form but like I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the installation process is identical, there are A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do offer a good base to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use for this form kind.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types This time around:
Considering paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Finally, you can choose the near Behavior of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber development, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific coverage for this effort.
This is where you’ll find a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of the report for a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see your readers interacted with your emails in relation to another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, though I found these to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will find the available statistics more than enough to fulfill their demands.
What’s email advertising without a dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The good news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for every email marketing program.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a conditional split, or an action, like transferring a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite ought to not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s now no automation for moving Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that activate new automation workflows. It’s just much less effective…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when generating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your topic line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email will be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, which means it’s possible to find an concept about what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it is really much faster than what I’m used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you will probably find this a downgrade in functionality.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s 1 Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and that I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or measure ) based on how Readers interact with all the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just isn’t accessible MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you may want to skip this one. Green Arrow Email
The Price of MailerLite is among the tools largest Selling things, and let’s face it, we all love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your emails using this plan, it is still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It ends up, at around half of the Cost of this rivalry on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options on the market. Additionally, if you are willing to pay yearly, you are also able to get a much better discount.
In Reality, I have not been able to locate anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the very few advertising tools to disrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, which is no simple feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
