Up until quite recently Getresponse service was one of the most comprehensive available for email marketing tools: the company offered phone service alongside live chat support, email service and various online tutorials / resources.
Regrettably, the telephone service has been discontinued. Instead you are going to need to use live chat (24/7) or email service. On the plus side, the templates are extremely tweakable – you can alter fonts, designs and vision easily enough using the controls provided; and naturally there is nothing to stop you designing your HTML email template and importing the code for it.
Furthermore, you will find a lot of templates to choose from — over 500 — and they are introduced in easy-to-understand classes, therefore it is generally pretty simple to locate a good beginning point to get a template and edit it until you are delighted with the plan.
If you’re really unhappy with the templates provided by Getresponse, there is also the choice of purchasing a template from a third party supplier such as Theme Forest.

Landing page Builder

If you are serious about landing pages – and they’re unquestionably a useful attribute – then it’s definitely worth considering one of the more expensive Getresponse plans.
You can purchase the Landing Pages attribute as an add-on to get an additional $15 a month, but quite frustratingly, even though the add-on allows you to show an infinite amount of landing pages to potential subscribers, it does not consist of A/B testing.
Accordingly, if I had been interested in the Getresponse landing page performance, I would not bother with this fairly half-baked add-on: I would just go for one of the more expensive programs (which I guess is exactly what Getresponse want you to do) .

Most competing products have caught up on this now, and extend responsive email templates, but Getresponse is better than most similar goods when it comes to displaying a responsive preview of your e-newsletter – you just hit a’cellphone preview’ button for a quick snapshot of your email resembles on a smartphone (see picture right).

Customer Relationship Management
One of the most frustrating facets of using many well-known CRM tools is that the necessity to export data to CSV and straight back into your email marketing tool as a way to do mailouts (or the need to export info from the email marketing tool into your CRM to add leads to it).
So when I saw Getresponse lately introducing a new CRM attribute in their plans I had been intrigued – that could potentially eliminate all that info exporting and exporting, and keep everything neatly in 1 place.
Initially I wasn’t that impressed with all the Getresponse CRM tool since you could only use it to carry out quite basic jobs: you can create sales pipelines, add contacts to these and monitor activity (mails, telephone calls etc.) with these contacts manually.
But recently Getresponse have upped their game somewhat on this particular front. The CRM is now integrated with all Getresponse’s email marketing functionality and you can add users into a CRM pipeline based on their action (form completions, email opens, purchases etc.) or trigger autoresponders based on the addition of a new contact into a pipeline phase.
An example of how to use this operation is as follows:
It is possible to add a contact to a particular point on a sales pipeline based on the page of your site that they finished a form on;
you can then send a automated email tailored to that pipeline period a couple of days later;
and based on the actions they took with regard to that email (clicking on a certain link etc) you could automatically move them on another phase of the pipeline and invite invite them to a webinar.
It is very smart stuff, and that I can’t think of any email marketing product offering such a tight integration between autoresponders and CRM pipelines. For this type of functionality you normally must appear at committed — and more expensive — CRM products such as Salesforce and Infusionsoft.
But, it’s not all fantastic news on the CRM front — there are a few big things missing from Getresponse’s CRM attribute set.
The most glaring omission is e mail activity monitoring. Additional CRM packages allow you to bcc a dropbox email address any time you send an email to a lead or client; doing so keeps a record of this communication in the contact’s history. There is currently no method of doing so together with the Getresponse CRM, nor is there an simple way to send one-to-one mails to leads or clients.
And strangely, if you click on a contact in a deal pipeline, you can not see their contact activity — i.e., the actions they have taken (open, clicks etc.) with regard to previous communications that you’ve sent to your leads aren’t displayed. To see this, you need to go from the CRM part of Getresponse, search for your contact in the contacts section and click on their details. But guess what? Doing this does not exhibit their deal history.
Task management is non-existent also: Unlike dedicated CRM tools, there is no way to assign tasks to other team members.
Finally, adding contacts into a pipeline stage is tough. You need to add contacts to a list first, then visit the CRM pipeline, add a bargain and hunt your lists to receive the contact you just added. From a usability standpoint this is extremely clunky and time consuming. You should just have the ability to add a deal right to a pipeline and then input the contact details of your guide or client at that point.
So as things stand, the Getresponse CRM is a bit half-baked. But that said, it is a new attribute and the things it could do on the automation side is remarkable. I am hopeful that this attribute becomes developed over time since done right, it’s possibly a game-changer for entrepreneurs and SMEs.
Getresponse recently introduced the ability to sponsor webinars on the stage.
Given that webinars are usually utilized as a lead-generation tactic, the idea of having your email database and your webinar tool under the same roof is very appealing.
The pricing is also very aggressive also by comparison to established webinar solutions. The email deliverability rate – the proportion of e-newsletters sent that successfully reach inboxes – is always an important thing to look at when choosing an email marketing tool.
Not all email advertising suppliers are that forthright about their deliverability prices; however, Getresponse seems pretty open about this, with this to say about it in their own site:
At GetResponse we are often asked about the quality of the deliverability rate. Since deliverability is dependent upon many things, including the content of your messages, the deliverability rate could vary for every mailing. For our customers jointly, however, we’re proud to say our general deliverability rate now stands at 99%.
Obviously you are going to have to choose the company’s term for this, but supposing it’s accurate, it’s a good rate and inspires confidence that the vast majority of emails that you send using Getresponse will achieve their receivers.
What’s more, Getresponse really provides you the deliverability rate of each message in your email analytics – this is something that I haven’t struck on rival goods’ metrics. A thumbs up for it.
I do need to pull Getresponse on one thing concerning deliverability nevertheless: to guarantee a high deliverability rate, it is a good idea to use a platform called DKIM email authentication. You can use DKIM with Getresponse – but only on the more expensive Getresponse’Max’ plans.
Although I have not struck any deliverability difficulties utilizing the less costly plans, competing goods do not force you to invest in a more expensive plan to avail of the feature — it would be good to see Getresponse becoming more generous here.

In terms of how it stacks up against its rivals in this regard, I’d argue that Campaign Monitor is a little bit more user friendly, and Mailchimp has a slicker user interface (though one that makes finding certain functionality a little bit tricky at times).
One place I feel that might be significantly better in the user-friendliness standpoint is the Getresponse e-newsletter editor.
Whilst its drag-and-drop approach does in theory provide a very flexible way to create blocks of articles and transfer them around an e-newsletter, in practice it’s fairly clunky to use and may cause accidental deletion of material, or positioning of it at the wrong part of the e-newsletter.
If you can get your head around it, and practice using it a bit, it does result in a helpful instrument – it’s just that the implementation of it could be rather better.
Also, as described above, the CRM tool could be better from a usability point of view adding contacts to deals can be unnecessarily difficult.
The 30-day free trial which Getresponse provides is fully operational and the free trial isn’t contingent upon providing credit card details.
This helps you avoid that annoying”oops I forgot I signed up for this particular trial and now I am getting charged for a commodity I do not use” scenario.
The only down side to the free trial is that it limits the amount of readers you can send to 1000. It would be good if this could be raised a bit, as it would help potential users try the tool out in more’real-world’ scenarios.

Webinars – that performance is not available whatsoever around the’Email’ strategy and the amount of webinar attendees is capped for the’Guru’ and’Max’ programs at 100, 500 respectively (it’s uncertain what the limit is about the’Enterprise’ program ).
Users – you can only have one user account on the’Email’ plan; by comparison you receive 3 on’Guru’, 5 ‘Max’ and 10 on’Enterprise’.
Pricing Vs Competitors
Provided that you’re pleased to use one of the entry-level’Email’ programs, the pay-per-month Getresponse programs are on the whole cheaper than those supplied by many of its key competitors, especially if you’ve got a reasonably large number of email addresses on your database.
For example, in case you have a mailing list comprising between 9,000 and 10,000 documents which you want to send an unlimited number of mails per month to, then you might find that hosting it using Getresponse costs $65 monthly.

Decision Campaign Monitor’s pricing structure depends not only the number of email addresses on your database but on the number of emails you send a month too. If you are happy to set a limit on the amount of mails sent via Campaign Monitor (from the example above, to 50k mails ), you can expect to pay a monthly fee of $89, nevertheless substantially greater than Getresponse’s.
The sole well-known service that I could think of that comes in considerably cheaper is Mad Mimi, which charges $42 a month to sponsor up to 10,000 email addresses (note however that the functionality offered by Mad Mimi is nowhere near as extensive as Getresponse’s or indeed another products mentioned previously ).
Additionally, it is worth pointing out that Mailchimp offers narrower pricing rings, meaning that depending on how big your listing, it might occasionally be a slightly cheaper option than Getresponse.
At the database end of things, Getresponse’s pricing is really competitive too – you can host a database comprising 1,000 email addresses for $15 per month using Getresponse, compared to $29 with Aweber; $59 on Campaign Monitor (unlimited send).
Mailchimp’s monthly fee for a 1,000 recording database is the same as Getresponse’s; and Mad Mimi supplies a marginally cheaper, if much less functional offering for $12 per month.
Two final things to be aware of about the pricing front:
Some competing suppliers — especially Mailchimp – provide free accounts for users with a small number of records (but these do not supply the entire range of features that you get on a paid plan).
As mentioned earlier, if you are prepared to pay upfront for 1 or 2 decades, you can avail of substantial discounts that the other competitors don’t yet supply.
So the bottom line is that Getresponse is pretty competitive in the pricing section. But what about features? Getresponse Zend
Getresponse represents among the more cost-effective tactics to host and speak with an email .
It is also among the most interesting products of its type – because it provides email marketing, landing pages, CRM and webinars all under one roof. It is difficult to consider any competing product that delivers this’all round’ proposal, and it is what proceeds to convince us to use it for Style Factory’s email advertising.
Some developments to Getresponse do have to be made however, particularly where the email programmer is concerned – its drag and drop interface is more fiddly and less responsive than it should be. A good deal of improvements could be made to the data capture forms too, especially for users wanting to exhibit them on mobile devices.
And from what I gather from reader opinions, there are developments which could be made to the service offering.
All in all though I rate Getresponse very highly – you get considerable bang for your buck with this item.

Getresponse is clear about deliverability rates, publishing figures on its website and supplying deliverability data for individual e-newsletters you send.
It offers an extremely flexible approach to data segmentation – more flexible than many competing goods.
It permits you to add subscribers to your mailing list on both a single-opt in and a double opt-in basis.
It transmits responsive emails and permits you to preview smartphone variations of your e-newsletters really easily.
It comes with a helpful landing page creator – but keep in mind that you have to be on a more expensive plan to get the fully functional version of this.
You can test all its features free for 30 days without the need to enter credit card information.
Disadvantages of Getresponse
The drag and drop interface for designing mails can be a little bit on the fiddly side.
The data capture forms provided aren’t responsive and you can not control when and where they are displayed on your website.
CRM performance needs to be improved considerably before it could be considered a replacement for a standalone CRM product.
There is a limited selection of RSS-to-HTML e-newsletter templates provided.
You can only use’web-safe’ fonts from e-newsletters, which may make the templates seem marginally less slick than those provided by competing products.
The pricing structure is a little perplexing, with users having to pay something of a superior to access the landing page creator tool.
The free trial restricts the amount of readers you’ll be able to send messages into 1000.
The landing page addition does not allow you to execute A/B evaluations, meaning that in order to gain this functionality you are forced to use a more expensive program than you might like.
