Besides email marketing, it now also supplies training hosting, landing pages, and a few CRM (client relationship management) performance.
We’ll discuss all these attributes in depth below, but first, let us look in pricing.
Getresponse’s feature set is possibly one of the most comprehensive on the market.
Not only does it provide all of the crucial stuff you’d expect from an email marketing platform – list hosting, templates, autoresponders, analytics and so on, but as mentioned above, it’s been expanding the feature set to the point where it is morphing into an all-in-one / CRM-style marketing platform.
The question is whether Getresponse is a jack of all trades and master of none – let us drill down into the key qualities to learn.
Up until very recently Getresponse service was one of the most comprehensive available for email advertising tools: the firm offered phone service alongside live chat support, email support and various online tutorials / resources.
Regrettably, the phone service has now been discontinued. Instead you are going to have to use live chat (24/7) or email support. To be fair, most similar e-marketing platform suppliers only offer both of these stations – if phone support is a deal-breaker for you you might wish to consider Aweber, which still provides it (you can read our Aweber review ).
In terms of the quality of Getresponse support, I have never needed to use it very often (a fantastic thing) but once I’ve I’ve found it for a small mixed bag (less of a fantastic thing). Furthermore, there are tons of templates to choose from — around 500 — and they’re introduced in easy-to-understand categories, so it is generally pretty simple to find a good beginning point to get a template and then edit it before you’re happy with the plan.
If you are really not pleased with the templates provided by Getresponse, there is also the choice of buying a template from a third party provider such as Theme Forest.
Another thing worth pointing out regarding Getresponse’s templates is that the assortment of RSS-to-email software options are not very extensive (just 11 templates are supplied – well short of the 700+ available for regular newsletters!) Landing page Builder
Online advertising campaigns that use landing pages will typically generate far more leads if, rather than simply directing people to a (cluttered!) Website, they point users to attractive’squeeze pages’ comprising clear information and a tidy, well-designed data capture type.
Getresponse provides something very beneficial in this regard that most of its rivals don’t: a landing page creator (and one that is mobile-friendly to boot).
Products such as Campaign Monitor and Aweber ask that you make use of a third party (and non invasive ) landing page creating tool like Unbounce or Instapage; Mailchimp lately introduced some landing page functionality but it’s yet to become sophisticated at Getresponse’s.

If you are serious about landing pages – and they are certainly a helpful attribute – then it’s definitely worth considering among the more expensive Getresponse plans.
You can buy the Landing Pages feature as an add-on for an extra $15 per month, but quite frustratingly, even though the add-on allows you to display an unlimited amount of landing pages to prospective subscribers, it doesn’t include A/B testing.
Therefore, if I was considering the Getresponse landing page functionality, I would not bother with this fairly half-baked add-on: I would just go for one of the pricier programs (which I guess is exactly what Getresponse would like you to do) .
Getresponse was before its competitors for quite some time using its responsive email layout functionality, which automatically adjusts your e-newsletter’s template so that if an individual is reading it onto a mobile device, the design and fonts will be optimized for the device in question.
Most competing products have caught up on this today, and extend responsive email templates, but Getresponse is far better than most similar products when it comes to displaying a responsive record of your e-newsletter – you simply hit a’cellphone preview’ button for a quick snapshot of your email looks like on a smartphone (see image right).

Customer Relationship Management
One of the most frustrating facets of utilizing many famous CRM tools is the necessity to export information to CSV and back to your email marketing tool as a way to do mailouts (or the need to export info from the email marketing tool in your CRM to add leads to it).
When I saw Getresponse lately introducing a brand new CRM feature in their plans I had been intrigued – that could potentially eliminate all that data exporting and exporting, and keep everything neatly in 1 area.

An example of how you could use this functionality would be as follows:
You can add a contact to a specific point on a revenue pipeline depending on the page of your website that they finished a form on;
you can then send them a automated email tailored to that pipeline stage a few days later;
and based on the action they took in regards to that email (clicking on a certain link etc) you could automatically move them on another phase of the pipeline and invite invite them into a webinar.
It is very clever stuff, and that I can not think of any email marketing product offering such a tight integration between autoresponders and CRM pipelines. For this type of functionality you normally must look at dedicated — and more expensive — CRM products like Salesforce and Infusionsoft.
However, it is not all fantastic news on the CRM front — there are some big things missing from Getresponse’s CRM attribute set.
The most glaring omission is e mail activity tracking. Additional CRM packages allow you to bcc a dropbox email address whenever you send an email to some lead or client; doing this keeps a record of the communication in the contact’s history. There’s currently no method of doing so together with all the Getresponse CRM, nor is there an easy way to send one-to-one mails to prospects or clients.
And oddly, when you click a contact in a bargain pipeline, you can’t see their contact activity — i.e., the activities they’ve taken (open, clicks etc.) with regard to previous communications that you’ve delivered to your leads aren’t displayed. To observe this, you need to go from the CRM section of Getresponse, hunt for your contact in the contacts section and click in their details. But guess what? Doing this does not exhibit their history.
Task management is non-existent also: unlike committed CRM tools, there is no way to assign tasks to other team members.
Eventually, adding contacts to your pipeline stage is tough. You need to add contacts to a list first, then visit the CRM pipeline, include a bargain and search your lists to receive the contact you just added. From a usability standpoint this is extremely clunky and time consuming. You should just have the ability to put in a bargain directly to a pipeline and then input the contact information of your guide or client at the point.
So as things stand, the Getresponse CRM is somewhat half-baked. But that said, it’s a new feature and the stuff it can do on the automation aspect is impressive. I am hopeful that this attribute becomes developed over time because done right, it is possibly a game-changer for entrepreneurs and SMEs.
Getresponse recently introduced the capability to host webinars on the platform.
Given that webinars are generally used as a lead-generation tactic, the notion of getting your email database along with your webinar tool under precisely the exact same roof is very appealing.
The pricing is also very aggressive too by comparison to established webinar solutions. The email deliverability rate – the proportion of e-newsletters delivered that successfully hit inboxes – is obviously a very important thing to check at when selecting an email marketing tool.
Not all email marketing suppliers are that forthright about their deliverability prices; but Getresponse seems reasonably open about this, with this to say about it in their website:

Obviously you are going to have to choose the company’s term for this, but assuming it is accurate, it is a good rate and inspires confidence that the vast majority of emails that you send using Getresponse will achieve their receivers.
What’s more, Getresponse really provides you the deliverability rate of every message in your email analytics – this is something I haven’t struck on competing goods’ metrics. A thumbs up for this.
I really do need to pull Getresponse on something concerning deliverability however: to ensure a high deliverability rate, it’s a good idea to use a platform named DKIM email authentication. You are able to use DKIM using Getresponse – but only on the costlier Getresponse’Max’ plans.
Although I’ve not encountered any deliverability problems utilizing the less costly plans, competing products don’t force you to invest in a more expensive strategy to avail of the feature — it’d be useful to see Getresponse becoming more generous here.

On the whole, Getresponse is pretty simple to use. It’s certainly easy enough to perform all of the basics: import contacts, create campaigns, setup autoresponders and check numbers and the interface is really intuitive and clean.
With regards to how it stacks up against its competitors in this respect, I’d argue that Campaign Monitor is a tiny bit more user friendly, and Mailchimp has a slicker user interface (though one which makes locating certain performance a little bit tricky at times).
One place I feel that could be significantly better from a user-friendliness standpoint is the Getresponse e-newsletter editor.
Whilst its drag-and-drop approach does in theory provide a very flexible approach to create blocks of articles and transfer them around an e-newsletter, in practice it’s fairly clunky to use and can lead to accidental deletion of material, or placement of it in the incorrect part of the e-newsletter.
If you’re able to get your head about it, and practice using it a bit, it does make for a helpful instrument – it is just that the execution of it could be somewhat better.
Also, as described above, the CRM instrument could be better from a usability point of view adding contacts to deals can be difficult.
The 30-day free trial that Getresponse provides is fully operational and the free trial isn’t contingent upon providing credit card information.
This helps you avoid that annoying”oops I forgot I signed up for this particular trial and now I am getting charged for a commodity that I don’t use” scenario.
The only down side to this free trial is the fact that it restricts the number of subscribers you can send to to 1000. It would be good if that could be raised a bit, as it would help potential users try out the tool in more’real world’ scenarios.

Pricing Vs Competitors
Provided that you’re pleased to use one of those entry-level’Email’ programs, the pay-per-month Getresponse programs are on the whole cheaper than those supplied by many of its key competitors, especially if you’ve got a reasonably high number of email addresses onto your own database.

The sole well-known service I can think of that comes in considerably cheaper is Mad Mimi, which charges $42 a month to sponsor up to 10,000 email addresses (note however that the functionality offered by Mad Mimi is nowhere near as extensive as Getresponse’s or indeed the other products mentioned above).
Additionally, it is worth pointing out that Mailchimp offers thinner pricing rings, meaning that based on the size of your listing, it may occasionally be a slightly cheaper option than Getresponse.
In the smaller database end of things, Getresponse’s pricing is pretty competitive too – you can sponsor a database containing 1,000 email addresses for $15 per month with Getresponse, compared to $29 with Aweber; $59 on Campaign Monitor (unlimited send).
Mailchimp’s monthly fee to get a 1,000 record database is the same as Getresponse’s; and Mad Mimi provides a slightly cheaper, if much less functional offering for $12 per month.
Two final things to be Conscious of about the pricing front:
Some competing providers — especially Mailchimp – provide free accounts for users that have a few records (but these do not offer the entire assortment of features that you get on a paid plan).
As mentioned earlier, if you’re ready to pay upfront for 1 or 2 years, you can avail of significant discounts that the other competitors do not yet supply.

Getresponse represents among the more cost-effective tactics to host and speak with an email database.
