Another thing worth pointing out regarding Getresponse’s templates is the range of RSS-to-email applications options aren’t so extensive (only 11 templates are supplied – well short of their 700+ available for regular newsletters!) And some of them played a bit for me when I tested them (2010). I finally found something that worked for me, but I think there are definitely a few improvements that could be created in this area. Autoresponders are e-newsletters which are delivered to your readers at intervals determined by you — you can put them up so that immediately after someone signals up to a mailing list, they get a welcome message in the company; a week later they could receive a discount deal for some of your products or services; three weeks later they could receive an invitation to follow you on social networking. Getresponse’s autoresponder functionality is a key selling point – it offers one of the most comprehensive feature sets available.

Landing page Builder

Customer Relationship Management
One of the most frustrating aspects of using many well-known CRM tools is the necessity to export data to CSV and back into your email marketing instrument in order to do mailouts (or the necessity to export data from your email marketing tool into your CRM to add leads to it).
So when I watched Getresponse lately introducing a new CRM attribute in their plans I was intrigued – this could possibly do away with all that info exporting and exporting, and keep everything neatly in one area.
Initially I was not that impressed with all the Getresponse CRM tool as you could only use it to perform quite basic tasks: you can create sales pipelines, add contacts to them and monitor activity (emails, phone calls etc.) with these contacts manually.
But recently Getresponse have upped their game a bit on this particular front. The CRM is now integrated with all Getresponse’s email marketing functionality and you can add users to a CRM pipeline based on their action (form completions, email opens, purchases etc.) or trigger autoresponders depending on the addition of a new contact to a pipeline phase.
An example of how you could use this functionality would be as follows:
You can add a contact to a specific point on a revenue pipeline depending on the page of your website they completed a form ;
you can then send them a automated email tailored to this pipeline stage a couple of days later;
and based on the actions they took with regard to that email (clicking on a particular link ) you can automatically move them onto another stage of the pipeline and automatically invite them to a webinar.
It’s very clever stuff, and I can’t think of any email marketing product offering such a tight integration between autoresponders and CRM pipelines. For this type of functionality you normally must appear at dedicated — and more costly — CRM products such as Salesforce and Infusionsoft.
However, it’s not all fantastic news about the CRM front — there are a few big things missing out of Getresponse’s CRM feature set.
The most glaring omission is e mail activity tracking. Other CRM packages permit you to bcc a dropbox email address whenever you send an email to some lead or client; doing so keeps a record of this communication from the contact’s history. There’s now no method of doing this with all the Getresponse CRM, nor is there an simple way to send one-to-one mails to leads or clients.
And oddly, when you click a contact within a deal pipeline, you can’t see their contact activity — i.e., the actions they have taken (open, clicks etc.) with regard to previous communications which you have sent to your prospects aren’t displayed. To see this, you need to go from the CRM section of Getresponse, search for your contact in the contacts section and click on their details. But guess what? Doing so doesn’t display their deal history.
Task management is non-existent too: unlike committed CRM tools, there’s no way to assign tasks to other team members.
Eventually, adding contacts to your pipeline stage is difficult. You need to add contacts to a list , then go to the CRM pipeline, include a deal and search your lists for the contact you just added. From a usability standpoint this is very clunky and time consuming. You should just have the ability to add a deal right to a pipeline and enter the contact information of your lead or customer at the point.
So as things stand, the Getresponse CRM is somewhat half-baked. But that said, it’s a new attribute and the things it could perform on the automation aspect is impressive. I am optimistic that this attribute gets developed over time since done right, it is possibly a game-changer for entrepreneurs and SMEs.
Getresponse recently introduced the capability to sponsor webinars on the platform.
Given that webinars are usually utilized as a lead-generation strategy, the notion of getting your email database along with your webinar tool under the exact same roof is extremely attractive.

Though I have not encountered any deliverability problems utilizing the cheaper plans, competing goods don’t force you to invest in a more expensive plan to avail of the feature — it’d be good to see Getresponse becoming more generous here.
There are two approaches you can employ to add subscribers to a mailing list: having a’single opt-in’ or even a’double opt-in’ process.

In terms of how it stacks up against its rivals in this respect, I would assert that Campaign Monitor is a little bit more user friendly, and Mailchimp includes a slicker user interface (though one that makes finding certain functionality a little bit tricky at times).
1 area I think that could be significantly better from a user-friendliness standpoint is the Getresponse e-newsletter editor.
Whilst its drag-and-drop strategy does in theory provide a very flexible way to create blocks of content and transfer them about an e-newsletter, in practice it is quite clunky to use and can lead to accidental deletion of material, or positioning of it in the incorrect portion of the e-newsletter.
If you’re able to get your head about it, and practice using it a bit, it does make for a helpful instrument – it is just that the execution of it might be rather better.
Also, as described above, the CRM tool might be far better from a usability point of view — adding contacts to deals could be difficult.
The 30-day free trial which Getresponse provides is completely operational and the free trial isn’t contingent upon supplying credit card details.
This helps you avoid that annoying”oops I forgot I signed up for this particular trial and now I am getting charged for a product that I do not use” scenario.
The only down side to this free trial is that it limits the number of subscribers you can send to to 1000. It would be good if that could be raised a bit, as it might help prospective users try out the tool in more’real-world’ situations.

Additionally, it is worth pointing out that Mailchimp offers narrower pricing rings, meaning that based on how big your listing, it might occasionally be a slightly cheaper option than Getresponse.
In the database end of things, Getresponse’s pricing is really competitive too – you can host a database comprising 1,000 email addresses for $15 a month using Getresponse, compared to $29 with Aweber; $59 on Campaign Monitor (unlimited send).

Some improvements to Getresponse do have to be made nonetheless, especially where the email programmer is concerned – its own drag and drop interface is more fiddly and not as responsive than it ought to be.
