The question is whether Getresponse is a jack of all trades and master of none – let us drill down into the key features to learn.
Up until quite recently Getresponse support was amongst the most comprehensive available for email advertising tools: the company offered phone service together with live chat support, email support and assorted online tutorials / resources.
Sadly, the phone service has now been discontinued. Instead you are going to have to use live chat (24/7) or email service. In terms of the quality of Getresponse support, I have never needed to use it very frequently (a good thing) but when I have I have found it to be a bit of a mixed bag (less of a good thing). Furthermore, there are tons of templates to choose from — around 500 — and they are introduced in easy-to-understand categories, therefore it is generally pretty simple to locate a good starting point for a template and then edit it until you’re delighted with the design.
If you are really unhappy with the templates offered by Getresponse, there’s also the choice of purchasing a template from a third party supplier such as Theme Forest.

Landing page Builder
Online advertising campaigns that make use of landing pages will usually create far more leads in the event, rather than simply directing individuals to some (cluttered!) Site, they point users to appealing’squeeze pages’ containing clear information and a tidy, well-designed data capture type.

Additionally, and very importantly, you can’t utilize the landing page A/B testing performance on the least expensive Getresponse plan (whereby the system shows a sample of your users different variations of your landing page, calculates conversion speeds, and finally rolls out the best performing landing page mechanically ).
If you’re serious about landing pages – and they’re certainly a useful feature – then it’s definitely worth looking at among the more expensive Getresponse plans.
You may buy the Landing Pages attribute as an add-on to get an extra $15 a month, however very frustratingly, even though the add-on allows you to show an unlimited amount of landing pages to prospective subscribers, it doesn’t consist of A/B testing.

Customer Relationship Management
Among the most frustrating aspects of using many famous CRM tools is that the need to export information to CSV and straight back into your email marketing instrument as a way to do mailouts (or the necessity to export info from your email marketing tool into your CRM to include leads to it).
So when I watched Getresponse lately introducing a new CRM feature in their plans I was intrigued – that could possibly do away with all that info exporting and exporting, and keep everything neatly in 1 place.
Initially I was not that impressed with all the Getresponse CRM tool since you could only use it to perform quite basic tasks: you could create sales pipelines, add contacts to these and monitor activity (mails, telephone calls etc.) with those contacts manually.
But lately Getresponse have upped their game somewhat on this front. The CRM is now integrated with all Getresponse’s email marketing operation and you can add users to a CRM pipeline based on their activity (form completions, email opens, purchases etc.) or activate autoresponders based on the addition of a new contact into a pipeline stage.
An example of how to use this operation is as follows:
You can add a contact to a particular point on a revenue pipeline depending on the page of your site that they finished a form on;
you could then send a automated email tailored to that pipeline period a few days later;
and dependent on the action they took in regards to that email (clicking on a certain link ) you could automatically move them onto another stage of the pipeline and invite invite them into a webinar.
It’s very clever stuff, and that I can not think of any similar email marketing product offering this kind of tight integration between autoresponders and CRM pipelines. For this kind of functionality you normally need to look at committed — and more costly — CRM products like Salesforce and Infusionsoft.
However, it’s not all fantastic news on the CRM front — there are a few big things missing from Getresponse’s CRM feature collection.
The most glaring omission is e mail activity tracking. Additional CRM packages allow you to bcc a dropbox email address whenever you send an email to some lead or client; doing this keeps a list of the communication from the contact’s history. You should just be able to put in a deal right to a pipeline and then enter the contact details of your guide or client at that point.
So as things stand, the Getresponse CRM is a bit half-baked. However, it’s a new attribute and the stuff it could do on the automation side is remarkable. I am hopeful that this feature gets developed over time since done right, it is possibly a game-changer for entrepreneurs and SMEs.
Getresponse recently introduced the ability to sponsor webinars on the stage.
Given that webinars are generally used as a lead-generation tactic, the idea of getting your email database along with your webinar tool under the same roof is very appealing.
The pricing is also very aggressive too by comparison to based webinar solutions. In terms of how it stacks up against its rivals in this respect, I’d assert that Campaign Monitor is a tiny bit more user friendly, and Mailchimp has a slicker user interface (although one which makes locating certain performance just a bit tricky at times).
1 place I think that might be significantly better in the user-friendliness standpoint is that the Getresponse e-newsletter editor.
Whilst its drag-and-drop approach does in theory provide a very flexible way to create blocks of content and transfer them about an e-newsletter, in practice it is quite clunky to use and may lead to accidental deletion of material, or placement of it in the wrong part of the e-newsletter.
If you’re able to get your head about it, and practice using it a little bit, it does make for a useful instrument – it’s only that the execution of it could be somewhat better.
Also, as explained above, the CRM tool could be better from a usability point of view — adding contacts to deals can be difficult.
The 30-day complimentary trial that Getresponse supplies is fully operational and the free trial isn’t contingent upon supplying credit card information.
This helps you avoid that annoying”oops I forgot I signed up for that trial and now I am getting charged for a product I do not use” scenario.
The only down side to the free trial is that it restricts the amount of readers you can send to 1000. It would be good if that could be raised a little, as it would help potential users try the tool out in more’real-world’ scenarios.

Some competing providers — especially Mailchimp – offer completely free accounts for users with a few records (but these don’t supply the full range of features that you get on a paid plan).

The drag and drop interface for designing mails may be a little bit on the fiddly side.
The data capture forms provided aren’t responsive and you can’t control when and in which they are displayed on your site.
