This type of performance goes far beyond what’s traditionally been available from autoresponders, and allows you to create an individual journey which can be customised to the nth degree.

Landing page Builder
Online advertising campaigns which use landing pages will usually generate far more leads in the event, rather than simply directing individuals to some (cluttered!) Site, they point users to attractive’squeeze pages’ containing clear information and a clean, well-designed data capture form.
Getresponse provides something very useful in this regard that the majority of its competitors don’t: a landing page creator (and one that is mobile-friendly to boot).
Products like Campaign Monitor and Aweber require you to make use of a third party (and non invasive ) landing page generating tool like Unbounce or Instapage; Mailchimp lately introduced some landing page performance but it’s yet to become sophisticated at Getresponse’s.
However, unless you’re on a Getresponse’Pro’,’Max’ or’Enterprise’ program, the Getresponse landing page performance is rather limited: you can just produce 1 landing page, that could only be displayed 1,000 times a month.
Additionally, and above all, you can’t use the landing page A/B testing functionality on the cheapest Getresponse program (where the system shows a sample of your users different versions of your landing page, calculates conversion rates, and ultimately rolls out the top performing landing page automatically).
If you are serious about landing pages – and they are unquestionably a useful feature – then it’s definitely worth looking at among the more expensive Getresponse plans.
You may buy the Landing Pages attribute as an add-on for an additional $15 per month, but very frustratingly, even though the add-on allows you to show an unlimited amount of landing pages to prospective subscribers, it doesn’t consist of A/B testing.
Therefore, if I was considering the Getresponse landing page performance, I wouldn’t bother with this rather half-baked add-on: I would just go for a few of the more expensive plans (which I suppose is exactly what Getresponse would like you to do!) .

When I watched Getresponse recently introducing a brand new CRM feature in their plans I was intrigued – that could potentially eliminate all that info exporting and exporting, and keep everything neatly in 1 place.
Initially I wasn’t that impressed with all the Getresponse CRM tool since you could only use it in order to carry out rather basic jobs: you can create sales pipelines, add contacts to them and monitor activity (mails, phone calls etc.) with those contacts manually.
But recently Getresponse have upped their game a bit on this particular front. The CRM is now integrated with all Getresponse’s email marketing functionality and you can add users to a CRM pipeline based on their action (form completions, email opens, purchases etc.) or activate autoresponders depending on the addition of a new contact to a pipeline phase.
An example of how you could use this functionality is as follows:
You can add a contact to a particular stage on a sales pipeline based on the page of your site that they completed a form ;
you could then send them a automated email tailored to this pipeline stage a couple of days afterwards;
and based on the actions they took with regard to that email (clicking on a particular link ) you can automatically move them onto another stage of the pipeline and invite invite them to a webinar.
It’s very smart stuff, and that I can not think of any email marketing product offering this kind of tight integration between autoresponders and CRM pipelines. For this type of functionality you normally need to look at dedicated — and more expensive — CRM products like Salesforce and Infusionsoft.
However, it’s not all good news about the CRM front — there are a few big things missing from Getresponse’s CRM feature set.
The most glaring omission is e mail activity monitoring. Other CRM packages permit you to bcc a dropbox email address whenever you send an email to some lead or client; doing so keeps a record of this communication in the contact’s history. There is currently no method of doing this with the Getresponse CRM, nor is there an easy way to send one-to-one mails to leads or clients.
And strangely, if you click on a contact within a deal pipeline, you can’t see their contact activity — i.e., the actions they have taken (open, clicks etc.) in regards to previous communications that you have sent to your leads aren’t displayed. To observe this, you need to go from the CRM section of Getresponse, hunt for your own contact in the contacts section and click in their details. But guess what? Doing this doesn’t exhibit their history.
Task management is non-existent also: unlike dedicated CRM tools, there’s no way to assign tasks to other team members.
Finally, adding contacts into your pipeline stage is tough. You have to add contacts to a list first, then go to the CRM pipeline, add a deal and search your lists for the contact you just added. From a usability point of view this is extremely clunky and time consuming. You should just be able to put in a bargain right to a pipeline and input the contact details of your guide or customer at the point.
So as things stand, the Getresponse CRM is a bit half-baked. But that said, it’s a new attribute and the things it can do on the automation aspect is remarkable. I am optimistic that this attribute becomes developed over time since done right, it’s potentially a game-changer for entrepreneurs and SMEs.
Getresponse recently introduced the ability to sponsor webinars on the platform.
Given that webinars are usually utilized as a lead-generation strategy, the idea of getting your email database and your webinar tool under precisely the same roof is extremely attractive.
The pricing is also very aggressive too compared to established webinar solutions. For example, among the primary webinar services, Gotowebinar, fees $199 per month to host webinars with as much as 500 attendees; you can actually do the same (plus a great deal more) with Getresponse for $165 (so long as your listing size is below 25,000).

The email deliverability rate – the proportion of e-newsletters sent that successfully hit inboxes – is always a very important point to look at when selecting an email marketing tool.
Not all email marketing providers are that forthright in their deliverability prices; however, Getresponse seems reasonably open about this, with this to say about it in their own website:
At GetResponse we’re often asked about the quality of our deliverability rate. Because deliverability depends on a number of factors, including the content of your messages, the deliverability rate may vary for each mailing. For our customers collectively, however, we are proud to say our general deliverability rate now stands at 99%.
Clearly you’re going to have to choose the organization’s word for this, but supposing it is true, it’s a fantastic rate and inspires confidence that the huge majority of emails that you send using Getresponse will reach their intended recipients.
What’s more, Getresponse actually gives you the deliverability rate of each message in your email analytics – this is something I haven’t encountered on competing products’ metrics. A thumbs up for this.
I really do have to pull Getresponse on something concerning deliverability nevertheless: to ensure a high deliverability rate, it’s a good idea to use a system named DKIM email authentication. You are able to use DKIM with Getresponse – but only on the more expensive Getresponse’Max’ programs.
Though I have not struck any deliverability problems using the cheaper plans, competing products do not force you to invest in a more expensive strategy to avail of the feature — it would be good to see Getresponse being more generous here.

On the whole, Getresponse is pretty straightforward to use. It is certainly easy enough to do all the fundamentals: import contacts, create campaigns, set up autoresponders and check statistics and the interface is really clean and intuitive.
In terms of how it stacks up against its competitors in this regard, I’d assert that Campaign Monitor is a little bit more user friendly, and Mailchimp includes a slicker user interface (though one which makes finding certain functionality just a bit tricky at times).
One place I think that could be significantly better from a user-friendliness point of view is the Getresponse e-newsletter editor.
Whilst its drag-and-drop approach does in theory provide an extremely flexible way to create blocks of content and transfer them about an e-newsletter, in practice it is quite user friendly to use and can cause accidental deletion of content, or placement of it in the incorrect portion of the e-newsletter.
If you’re able to get your head about it, and practice using it a little bit, it will make for a useful tool – it’s only that the execution of it could be somewhat better.
Additionally, as explained above, the CRM instrument might be better from a usability point of view — adding contacts to deals can be unnecessarily difficult.
The 30-day free trial that Getresponse provides is completely functional and the free trial is not contingent upon providing credit card details.
This helps you avoid that annoying”oops I forgot I signed up for this particular trial and now I’m getting charged for a product I don’t use” scenario.
The only down side to this free trial is that it restricts the amount of readers it is possible to send to to 1000. It would be useful if this could be increased a little, as it might help potential users try out the tool in more’real world’ situations.

It’s also worth pointing out that Mailchimp offers thinner pricing bands, meaning that based on how big your list, it may sometimes be a slightly cheaper option than Getresponse.
In the database end of things, Getresponse’s pricing is pretty competitive too – you can host a database comprising 1,000 email addresses for $15 a month with Getresponse, compared to $29 with Aweber; $59 on Campaign Monitor (unlimited send).
Mailchimp’s monthly fee to get a 1,000 recording database is exactly the same as Getresponse’s; and Mad Mimi provides a marginally more affordable, if less operational offering for $12 per month.
Two final things to be aware of about the pricing :
Some competing providers — notably Mailchimp – offer completely free accounts for users with a small number of documents (but these do not supply the full range of features that you get on a paid plan).
As mentioned earlier, if you’re ready to pay upfront for 1 or 2 decades, you can avail of significant discounts the other competitors do not yet supply.
