Online advertising campaigns which use landing pages will usually generate far more leads if, instead of simply directing people to some (cluttered!) Website, they point users to appealing’squeeze pages’ containing clear information and a tidy, well-designed data capture form.
Getresponse offers something quite useful in this regard that most of its rivals do not: a landing page founder (and one that is mobile-friendly to boot).

But unless you’re on a Getresponse’Pro’,’Max’ or’Enterprise’ program, the Getresponse landing page functionality is fairly limited: you can just produce 1 landing page, which can simply be displayed 1,000 times per month.
Additionally, and above all, you can’t use the landing page A/B testing functionality on the cheapest Getresponse program (where the system indicates a sample of your customers different versions of your landing page, calculates conversion rates, and ultimately rolls out the best performing landing page mechanically ).
If you’re serious about landing pages – and they are certainly a helpful attribute – then it is definitely worth considering among the more expensive Getresponse plans.
You may purchase the Landing Pages attribute as an add-on for an extra $15 per month, but quite frustratingly, although the add-on allows you to show an infinite number of landing pages to prospective subscribers, it does not include A/B testing.
Accordingly, if I had been interested in the Getresponse landing page performance, I would not bother with this rather half-baked add-on: I’d just go for one of the pricier plans (which I suppose is what Getresponse want you to do!) .
Getresponse was before its competitors for quite some time with its responsive email design functionality, which automatically adjusts your e-newsletter’s template so that if a user is reading it on a mobile device, the design and fonts will be optimized for the device in question.
Most competing products have caught up on this now, and offer responsive email templates, but Getresponse is far better than most similar goods when it comes to displaying a responsive preview of your e-newsletter – you simply hit a’mobile preview’ button for a quick snapshot of your email looks like on a smartphone (see picture right).

Customer Relationship Management
Among the most frustrating facets of using many well-known CRM tools is the need to export information to CSV and straight back into your email marketing instrument as a way to perform mailouts (or the need to export info from your email marketing tool into your CRM to add leads to it).
So when I saw Getresponse recently introducing a brand new CRM feature in their plans I had been intrigued – that could possibly eliminate all that data exporting and exporting, and keep everything neatly in 1 place.

The CRM is now integrated with all Getresponse’s email marketing functionality and you can add users to a CRM pipeline based on their activity (form completions, email opens, purchases etc.) or trigger autoresponders based on the accession of a new contact to a pipeline stage.
An example of how you could use this operation would be as follows:
You can add a contact to a specific stage on a revenue pipeline based on the page of your website they finished a form ;
you can then send them a automated email tailored to that pipeline stage a few days later;
and dependent on the action they took with regard to this email (clicking on a certain link ) you can automatically move them on another stage of the pipeline and automatically invite them to a webinar.
It is very smart stuff, and I can’t think of any email advertising product offering this kind of tight integration between autoresponders and CRM pipelines. For this kind of functionality you normally must appear at committed — and more expensive — CRM products like Salesforce and Infusionsoft.
But, it’s not all good news on the CRM front there are some big things missing from Getresponse’s CRM attribute set.
The most glaring omission is e mail activity monitoring. Additional CRM packages permit you to bcc a dropbox email address whenever you send an email to a lead or customer; doing so keeps a record of the communication in the contact’s history. There is now no way of doing this together with all the Getresponse CRM, nor is there an easy way to send one-to-one emails to leads or clients.

Task management is non-existent also: Unlike dedicated CRM tools, there is no way to assign tasks to other team members.
Eventually, adding contacts into your pipeline stage is difficult. You need to add contacts to a list , then go to the CRM pipeline, add a bargain and hunt your lists to receive the contact you just added. From a usability standpoint this is extremely clunky and time consuming. You should just have the ability to add a deal right to a pipeline and enter the contact details of your guide or client at the point.
So as things stand, the Getresponse CRM is somewhat half-baked. However, it’s a new feature and the things it could perform on the automation side is remarkable. I’m hopeful that this attribute becomes developed over time since done right, it is potentially a game-changer for entrepreneurs and SMEs.
Getresponse recently introduced the capability to sponsor webinars on the stage.

With regards to how it stacks up against its rivals in this respect, I’d argue that Campaign Monitor is a tiny bit more user friendly, and Mailchimp has a slicker user interface (although one which makes finding certain performance just a little bit tricky at times).
1 area I feel that might be significantly better from a user-friendliness point of view is the Getresponse e-newsletter editor.
Whilst its drag-and-drop strategy does in theory provide a very flexible approach to make blocks of articles and transfer them around an e-newsletter, in practice it is fairly user friendly to use and can lead to accidental deletion of material, or placement of it in the incorrect portion of the e-newsletter.
If you can get your head around it, and practice using it a bit, it will make for a helpful tool – it is just that the implementation of it could be rather better.
Additionally, as explained above, the CRM instrument might be far better from a usability point of view — adding contacts to deals could be difficult.
The 30-day complimentary trial that Getresponse supplies is fully functional and the free trial isn’t contingent upon providing credit card details.
This helps you avoid that annoying”oops I forgot I signed up for this particular trial and today I’m getting charged for a commodity I do not use” scenario.
The only down side to the free trial is that it limits the number of readers you can send to 1000. It would be useful if that could be raised a little, as it might help potential users try the tool out in more’real-world’ situations.

It’s also worth pointing out that Mailchimp offers thinner pricing rings, meaning that depending on the size of your list, it might occasionally be a slightly cheaper alternative than Getresponse.
At the database end of things, Getresponse’s pricing is really competitive too – you can sponsor a database comprising 1,000 email addresses for $15 a month with Getresponse, compared to $29 with Aweber; $59 on Campaign Monitor (unlimited send).
Mailchimp’s monthly fee for a 1,000 record database is the like Getresponse’s; and Mad Mimi provides a slightly more affordable, if much less functional offering for $12 a month.
Two final things to be aware of on the pricing :
Some competing providers — especially Mailchimp – offer free accounts for users with a small number of documents (but these don’t offer the entire range of features that you get on a paid plan).
