Background Font Face Email Marketing
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what would you say? Font Face Email Marketing
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses today, email advertising continues to be Dominated by the same large players for the last decade. Which means that they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So now, in this review, I’ll be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to find out if it really stands its own ground against the big boys…

Like most email marketing providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your company name, website, Industry, address, company size, record size and even the type of content you plan to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Website (or domain name).
This is still part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to this domain in order that they could email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Website, and determine whether you’re a good match for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you will not have the ability to send anything until accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these measures aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from damaging everybody’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with The majority of your email advertising.
(We will get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But whether it’s a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not start your broadcast email, together with the choice of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added options, most of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step process of a normal effort.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can change to the Templates tab and select from one of their pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, however, the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to include different Types of articles to your email, including videos, product columns, and social connections.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you can select your classes or sections.
The tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting is not quite right.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Font Face Email Marketing
Handling Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably among The most essential facets of any email advertising software now.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”label” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified rules, and are automatically added or removed accordingly.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even blend Principles, as well as an alternate rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and also the difference in name, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation principle — which we’ll get into in a minute — and they have no value aside from what you actually call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple contributors together according to a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they’re optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own areas, such as title, company, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers along with Your custom field information in separate columns… or may easily add these fields to a forms which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added into a form:
I won’t go too much to the form Stuff here because I have a whole section on that below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field information from new Readers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you know that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is fair to say MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on stage. Font Face Email Marketing
If you’re not impressed by what you have seen so far, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it will offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, for example most of us, you don’t have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all finally do the identical task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than a few dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Adequate pair of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer allows you To customize everything in the kind style, subjects, background, name, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To visualize your backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to some form than simply its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form works, such as adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded form and prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation Procedure is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do offer a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is just as simple to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me to a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched up with your branding.
Last, you can choose the near Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
This is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you specific reporting for this campaign.
This is where you’ll discover a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of the report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see your subscribers interacted with your mails in relation to one another.
Reports for automations are Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will find the available data more than sufficient to fulfill their needs.
What’s email advertising without a dash of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, then You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for every email advertising software.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, including a Delay, a bubble break, or an action, like transferring a contributor or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite ought to have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s currently no automation for moving Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that trigger new automation workflows. It’s just not as effective…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when creating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your subject line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, but once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email address will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, so it’s possible to get an concept of what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is actually much quicker than what I’m used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you’ll likely find this a downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s 1 type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and that I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on how Subscribers interact with the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just isn’t accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you might want to skip this one. Font Face Email Marketing
The cost of MailerLite is undoubtedly among the tools biggest Selling points, and let us face it, most of us love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your mails using this program, it’s still an wonderful option for those starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It ends up, at approximately half the Cost of this competition on average, MailerLite is by far one of the least expensive options on the industry. Additionally, if you are ready to pay yearly, you are also able to get a much greater discount.
In Reality, I have not been able to locate anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those very few advertising tools to disrupt The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of years, and that’s no simple feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
All in all, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
