Description of Getresponse Email Marketing Software Alternatives Mailchimp Alternatives Reddit
Getresponse is primarily an email Advertising app Which Allows you to: Email Marketing Software Alternatives Mailchimp Alternatives Reddit
Import and host a mailing list and catch data onto it
create newsletters that can be delivered to the subscribers on your mailing list
automate your emails to subscribers via use of’autoresponders’
view and analyse statistics related to your email marketing campaigns — open rate, click through, forward etc..
Recently however, Getresponse’s attribute set has developed quite a bit, to the point at which it’s becoming more of an’all-in-one’ marketing alternative.
Besides email advertising, it also supplies training hosting, landing pages, and some CRM (client relationship management) performance.
We’ll discuss all these features in depth below, but first, let us look in pricing.
Getresponse’s feature set is possibly one of the most comprehensive out there.
Not only does it provide all the key stuff you would expect from an email marketing platform – list templates, hosting, autoresponders, analytics and so on, but as mentioned previously, it’s recently been expanding the feature set to the point where it is morphing into an all-in-one / CRM-style marketing platform.
The inquiry is if Getresponse is a jack of all trades and master of none – let us drill down to the crucial qualities to find out.
Up until quite recently Getresponse support was one of the most comprehensive available for email advertising tools: the firm offered phone service alongside live chat support, email service and assorted online tutorials / resources.
Sadly, the phone service has now been discontinued. Instead you’ll have to use live chat (24/7) or email service. To be fair, most similar e-marketing platform providers only offer you these two channels – if phone service is a deal-breaker for you then you might want to contemplate Aweber, which nonetheless supplies it (you can read our Aweber review here).
In terms of the caliber of Getresponse support, I have not had to use it very often (a good thing) but when I’ve I’ve discovered it to be a small mixed bag (less of a fantastic thing). Some of the live chat support I have received has been outstanding, and I haven’t had to wait too much time to chat with a broker; the email service less so.
Some of the comments I have from our readers will indicate that there do need to be improvements made in terms of the quality of support Getresponse offer. Much like a number of these kinds of companies, I anticipate it often boils down to that you get daily. Email Marketing Software Alternatives Mailchimp Alternatives Reddit
Getresponse provides some very comprehensive reporting and analytics choices. You get all the basics of track – open rate, click-through, unsubscribe rates and so on – but also to that you will find some very nifty features that are worth a particular mention, namely:
‘one-click segmentation’: the choice to spot individuals who didn’t participate with an e-newsletter that you shipped and put them in a segment of readers which you may then email again with another variant of the e-newsletter
‘metrics over time’: you can discover just when most of your subscribers do it on your mails, and period your future mailouts based on this info
’email ROI’: by incorporating some monitoring code to your post-sales webpage on your website, you can find out how efficiently (or not!) Your email campaigns are driving sales, and workout your return on investment in electronic mail advertising.
Per-user information – you could click one of your subscribers and see in which they signed up from, where they are found and which emails they have opened in the past.
Mailchimp and Aweber offer some similar reporting performance (especially around sales tracking) however Getresponse’s reporting application is definitely one of most featured out there (it certainly trounces the stats choices provided by Mad Mimi and Campaign Monitor).
So far so good with Getresponse, however, when it comes to templates, Getresponse arguably drops down a little.
Regrettably, the templates provided out of the box look somewhat dated; they are not as attractive as the ones provided by Mailchimp or Campaign Monitor (and I marginally prefer Aweber’s offering here also ).
On the plus side, the templates are extremely tweakable – you can change fonts, layouts and imagery easily enough using the controls supplied; and naturally there is nothing to stop you simply designing your HTML email template and importing the code for this.
Additionally, you will find tons of templates to choose from — around 500 — and they are introduced in easy-to-understand classes, so it’s generally pretty simple to locate a good starting point to get a template and edit it before you are happy with the plan.
If you’re really not pleased with the templates provided by Getresponse, there’s also the choice of buying a template from a third party provider such as Theme Forest.
Another thing worth pointing out regarding Getresponse’s templates is that the assortment of RSS-to-email applications options aren’t so extensive (only 11 templates are supplied – well short of the 700+ available for routine newsletters!) And some of them played up a bit for me when I tested them (2010). I eventually found something that worked for me personally, but I think that there are definitely a few improvements that could be made in this area. Autoresponders are e-newsletters which are sent to your subscribers at intervals depending on you personally — you can put them up so that immediately after somebody signs up to a mailing list, they receive a welcome message in the company; a week after they can receive a discount deal for some of your goods or services; three weeks after they could obtain an invitation to accompany you on social media. And so on.
Getresponse’s autoresponder functionality is a key selling point – it provides among the most extensive feature sets available.
You can send either time-based or action-based messages; time-based options include cycles such as the illustration above, and also action-based messages may be triggered by user actions or information, such as:
subscriptions to certain lists
changes in contact tastes
finished trades / goals
changes in consumer information
Lately Getresponse launched a brand new version of the new autoresponder performance, called’Marketing Automation.’
This allows you to make automation workflows using a drag and drop builder – you basically install an’automation flowchart’ that instructs Getresponse what to do when a user opens a specific deal, clicks on a specific link etc..
This kind of functionality goes way beyond what has traditionally been on offer from autoresponders, and allows you to create an individual journey which may be customised to the nth degree.
To get a fast overview I would suggest taking a look in Getresponse’s video overview for Marketing Automation.
It’s important to notice, however, these more innovative marketing automation features are only available to the more expensive plans – the’Guru’ plan and upward. Email Marketing Software Alternatives Mailchimp Alternatives Reddit
Landing page Builder
Online advertising campaigns that use landing pages will typically generate far more leads if, instead of simply directing people to some (cluttered!) Website, they tip users to appealing’squeeze pages’ containing clear information and a clean, well-designed data capture type.
Getresponse provides something very useful in this regard that the majority of its competitors do not: a landing page creator (and one that’s mobile-friendly to boot).
Products like Campaign Monitor and Aweber ask you to make use of a third party (and paid-for) landing page creating tool such as Unbounce or Instapage; Mailchimp recently introduced some landing page performance but it’s yet to become sophisticated at Getresponse’s.
But unless you’re on a Getresponse’Pro’,’Max’ or’Enterprise’ program, the Getresponse landing page performance is fairly limited: you can just produce 1 landing page, that could only be displayed 1,000 times a month.
Additionally, and above all, you can not use the landing page A/B testing functionality on the least expensive Getresponse plan (whereby the machine shows a sample of your users different versions of your landing page, calculates conversion rates, and finally rolls out the top performing landing page automatically).
If you are serious about landing pages – and they are unquestionably a useful attribute – then it is definitely worth looking at among the costlier Getresponse plans.
You may purchase the Landing Pages feature as an add-on to get an extra $15 per month, but quite frustratingly, although the add-on allows you to show an infinite amount of landing pages to prospective subscribers, it doesn’t consist of A/B testing.
Therefore, if I was interested in the Getresponse landing page functionality, I would not bother with this fairly half-baked add-on: I’d just go for one of the more expensive plans (which I suppose is what Getresponse would like one to do!) .
Getresponse was ahead of its competitors for quite a while with its responsive email layout performance, which automatically corrects your e-newsletter’s template so that if an individual is reading it on a mobile device, the design and fonts will be optimized for the device in question.
Most competing products have caught up on this now, and extend responsive email templates, but Getresponse is better than most similar goods when it comes to displaying a responsive record of your e-newsletter – you simply hit on a’cellphone preview’ button for an instant snapshot of what your email resembles on a smartphone (see image right).
Not only this but you can’reverse’ the smartphone preview around, so that you may preview what your own email looks like when the display is employed in either portrait or landscape mode. Email Marketing Software Alternatives Mailchimp Alternatives Reddit
Customer Relationship Management
Among the most frustrating facets of using many famous CRM tools is the need to export information to CSV and straight back to your email marketing tool in order to perform mailouts (or the need to export info from your email marketing tool in your CRM to include prospects to it).
So when I saw Getresponse recently introducing a new CRM feature in their plans I was intrigued – that could possibly eliminate all that info exporting and importing, and keep everything neatly in one area.
Initially I was not that impressed with the Getresponse CRM tool as you can only use it to perform rather basic tasks: you can create sales pipelines, add contacts to them and monitor activity (mails, telephone calls etc.) with those contacts manually.
But lately Getresponse have upped their video game a bit on this front. The CRM is currently integrated with all of Getresponse’s email marketing functionality and you can add users into a CRM pipeline based on their activity (form completions, email opens, purchases etc.) or activate autoresponders depending on the accession of a new contact into a pipeline stage.
An example of how to use this operation is as follows:
It is possible to add a contact to a specific stage on a sales pipeline based on the page of your website they finished a form ;
you could then send a automated email tailored to this pipeline stage a couple of days afterwards;
and based on the action they took with regard to that email (clicking on a certain link etc) you can automatically move them on another stage of the pipeline and invite invite them to a webinar.
It’s very clever stuff, and that I can’t think of any email marketing product offering this kind of tight integration between autoresponders and CRM pipelines. For this type of performance you normally need to appear at dedicated — and more expensive — CRM products like Salesforce and Infusionsoft.
But, it’s not all good news about the CRM front — there are a few big things missing from Getresponse’s CRM feature set.
The most glaring omission is e mail activity tracking. Additional CRM packages permit you to bcc a dropbox email address any time you send an email to a lead or client; doing so keeps a list of this communication from the contact’s history. There is currently no way of doing so together with the Getresponse CRM, nor is there an simple way to send one-to-one mails to prospects or customers.
And oddly, if you click a contact in a bargain pipeline, you can’t see their contact action — i.e., the actions they have taken (open, clicks etc.) in regards to previous communications which you have delivered to your leads aren’t displayed. To see this, you have to go from the CRM part of Getresponse, hunt for your contact in the contacts section and click in their details. But guess what? Doing so does not display their history.
Task management is non-existent also: unlike dedicated CRM tools, there is no way to assign tasks to other group members.
Eventually, adding contacts into your pipeline stage is difficult. You need to add contacts to a list first, then visit the CRM pipeline, include a bargain and hunt your lists to receive the contact you just added. From a usability standpoint this is very clunky and time consuming. You should just have the ability to put in a bargain right to a pipeline and then enter the contact details of your guide or client at that point.
So as things stand, the Getresponse CRM is a bit half-baked. However, it’s a new feature and the stuff it can do on the automation side is remarkable. I’m hopeful that this feature gets developed over time since done right, it’s potentially a game-changer for entrepreneurs and SMEs.
Getresponse recently introduced the capability to sponsor webinars on the stage.
Given that webinars are generally used as a lead-generation tactic, the notion of having your email database along with your webinar tool under the exact same roof is extremely attractive.
The pricing is also very competitive also compared to based webinar solutions. For instance, one of the leading webinar services, Gotowebinar, fees $199 a month to host webinars with as much as 500 attendees; you can really do exactly the same (and a whole lot more) with Getresponse for $165 (so long as your listing size is below 25,000).
With regard to attendee limits, the Getresponse’Guru’ program permits you to sponsor a webinar with around 100 participants; the’Max’ program’s limit is 500.
You might even buy webinars performance as a add on to a cheaper plan: $40 per month buys you a 100 attendees limit, $99 per month buys you a 500 attendees limit. It isn’t clear what your options are if you will need to host larger scale distributions compared to that however.
A couple of Getresponse webinar features worth flagging up as being especially useful are:
The very fact that your attendees don’t need to install any applications to attend the webinars
one-click list of your webinars
free online storage for playback files
Ultimately webinar performance is potentially a very useful feature to have sitting on your e-marketing arsenal and its addition as a characteristic gives Getresponse a very significant edge over its key competitors, especially when you believe you could connect it in with a built in CRM tool (more about that in a moment). The email deliverability rate – the percentage of e-newsletters delivered that successfully reach inboxes – is always an important thing to look at when selecting an email marketing instrument.
Not all email marketing providers are that forthright in their deliverability prices; however, Getresponse seems reasonably open about that, with this to say about it on their website:
At GetResponse we’re frequently asked about the quality of the deliverability speed. Since deliverability depends on many things, including the content of your messages, the deliverability rate could vary for every mailing. For all our customers jointly, however, we’re proud to say our overall deliverability rate now stands at 99%.
Obviously you’re going to have to take the company’s term for this, but assuming it’s accurate, it is a fantastic speed and inspires confidence that the huge majority of emails you send using Getresponse will reach their receivers.
What’s more, Getresponse really gives you the deliverability rate of each message in your email analytics – this is something I have not struck on rival products’ metrics. A thumbs up for this.
I do have to pull Getresponse up on something relating to deliverability however: to guarantee a high deliverability speed, it is a good idea to use a system called DKIM email authentication. You are able to use DKIM using Getresponse – but only on the more expensive Getresponse’Max’ programs.
Although I have not struck any deliverability difficulties using the less costly plans, competing products do not force you to invest in a more expensive plan to avail of this feature — it’d be useful to see Getresponse becoming more generous here.
There are two approaches you can employ to add subscribers to a mailing list: using a’single opt-in’ or a’double opt-in’ process.
If you utilize one opt-in procedure, the individual signing up to your mailing list is added to your mailing list the moment they hit the submit button on your sign up form.
Using a double opt-in procedure, the person registering to your list is sent via an email containing a confirmation link that s/he have to click before being subscribed.
The main benefit of a single opt-in process is that it makes it very simple for users to subscribe to your mailing list; it also generally increases conversion speed and so the amount of subscribers on your record. A double opt-in procedure is best for verifying the folks subscribing to your list are using real email addresses and contributes to cleaner data and more precise stats (because receptive rates etc. are calculated according to a list containing only email addresses).
Now, the fantastic news here is that Getresponse permits you to make use of either opt-in approach – this isn’t true with all competing products. Thus a thumbs up for Getresponse to be flexible on this.
You are probably thinking that all this sounds pretty fine — but to be honest, I think there is a lot of room for improvement with respect to Getresponse kind templates.
To begin with, they’re not responsive (i.e.they won’t resize themselves automatically to match the device they are being viewed on).
Additionally, no controls are provided by Getresponse to switch forms on or off on particular devices or individual pages of your website. In the light of Google’s brand new strategy to pop-ups (where sites can have a hit in search results if they display’intrusive interstitials’ on cellular devices) this is a small concern.
To circumvent this, I normally avoid using Getresponse form templates, and make do using HTML embeded forms which I style myself, and for popups I connect my Getresponse to some growth-hacking instrument named Sumo (that enables me to change pop-ups off for cellular users, in addition to display forms exactly as I’d like to and on the pages I want). Overall, Getresponse is really straightforward to use. It is certainly easy enough to perform all the basics: import contacts, create campaigns, set up autoresponders and check numbers and the interface is pretty intuitive and clean.
With regards to how it stacks up against its rivals in this regard, I’d argue that Campaign Monitor is a tiny bit more user friendly, and Mailchimp includes a slicker user interface (although one that makes finding certain performance just a little bit tricky at times).
One place I think that might be significantly better in the user-friendliness standpoint is that the Getresponse e-newsletter editor.
Whilst its drag-and-drop approach does in theory provide an extremely flexible approach to create blocks of articles and transfer them around an e-newsletter, in practice it’s quite user friendly to use and can lead to accidental deletion of content, or positioning of it at the wrong portion of the e-newsletter.
If you can get your head about it, and practice using it a little bit, it will result in a helpful tool – it’s only that the execution of it might be somewhat better.
Additionally, as explained above, the CRM instrument could be better from a usability point of view — adding contacts to deals could be difficult.
The 30-day complimentary trial which Getresponse provides is fully operational and the free trial is not contingent upon supplying credit card information.
This helps you avoid that annoying”oops I forgot I signed up for this particular trial and today I am getting charged for a commodity that I do not use” scenario.
The only down side to this free trial is that it restricts the number of readers it is possible to send to to 1000. It would be useful if that could be increased a bit, as it would help prospective users try the tool out in more’real world’ situations.
There are 3 main sorts of Getresponse pricing strategy -‘Email’,’Pro’ and’Max’ — and inside each of these, several additional kinds of plan to choose from (all based on list size).
As much as 1,000 contributors: $15 (‘Email’) / $49 (‘Guru’) / $165 (‘Max’)
1,001 to 2,500 readers: $25 (‘Email’) / $49 (‘Guru’) / $165 (‘Max’)
2,501 to 5,000 subscribers: $45 (‘Email’) / $49 (‘Pro’) / $165 (‘Max’)
5,001 to 10,000 readers: $65 (‘Email’)/ $75 (‘Pro’) / $165 (‘Max’)
10,001 to 25,000 readers: $145 (‘Email’) / $165 (‘Pro’) / $255 (‘Max’)
25,001 to 50,000 subscribers: $250 (‘Email’) / $280 (‘Guru’) / $370 (‘Max’)
50,001 to 100,000 subscribers: $450 (‘Email’) / $490 (‘Pro’) / $580 (‘Max’
Additionally there’s an”Enterprise” plan for users whose lists exceed 100,000 email addresses: this begins at $1199, with exact pricing based on prerequisites (if you’re interested in the”Enterprise” plan, you will want to contact Getresponse to schedule a demo, outline your requirements and share pricing).
Substantial discounts are available if you pay upfront for 12 or 24 months of service (18% and 30% respectively) — these are much more generous than many competing platforms. Email Marketing Software Alternatives Mailchimp Alternatives Reddit
Distinctions of Each Strategy
All the Getresponse plans cover the important fundamentals — key characteristics include:
The ability to export, develop and host an email database
a wide Assortment of templates
responsive email layouts
RSS / site to-email functionality
comprehensive segmentation options
societal sharing programs
There are a number of differences between the’Email’,’Pro’ and’Max’ plans but for me the key ones are:
CRM – Getresponse provides a customer relationship manager tool on its’Guru’ programs up
landing pages – you can only avail of landing pages that enable split testing and unlimited views if you’re on a’Pro’ plan or greater
Webinars – that performance isn’t accessible at all on the’Email’ plan and the amount of webinar attendees is capped for the’Pro’ and’Max’ programs at 100, 500 respectively (it’s unclear what the limitation is about the’Enterprise’ plan).
Users – you can only have one user account on the’Email’ program; by comparison you get 3 on’Pro’, 5 on’Max’ and 10 on’Enterprise’.
Pricing Vs Competitors
So long as you are pleased to use one of the entry-level’Email’ plans, the pay-per-month Getresponse programs are on the whole more affordable than those supplied by many of its key competitors, particularly if you have a fairly high number of email addresses onto your own database.
For example, if you’ve got a mailing list comprising between 9,000 and 10,000 records that you want to send an unlimited number of emails each month to, you’ll find that hosting it with Getresponse costs $65 per month.
$4 per month more affordable than with Aweber
$10 cheaper per month than Mailchimp
$84 per month cheaper than Campaign Monitor*
Decision Campaign Monitor’s pricing structure depends not just the amount of email addresses on your own database but on how many emails you send per month too. If you are happy to limit the amount of emails delivered via Campaign Monitor (in the case above, to 50k mails ), you can expect to pay a monthly charge of $89, still considerably higher than Getresponse’s.
The only well-known service I could think of that comes in considerably more affordable is Mad Mimi, which costs $42 per month to host up to 10,000 email addresses (note however that the functionality provided by Mad Mimi is nowhere near as extensive as Getresponse’s or indeed another products mentioned above).
Additionally, it is worth pointing out that Mailchimp offers thinner pricing bands, meaning that depending on how big your listing, it may sometimes be a slightly cheaper alternative than Getresponse.
At the database end of things, Getresponse’s pricing is pretty competitive too – you can sponsor a database containing 1,000 email addresses for $15 a month using Getresponse, compared to $29 with Aweber; $59 on Campaign Monitor (unlimited send).
Mailchimp’s monthly fee to get a 1,000 record database will be exactly the like Getresponse’s; and Mad Mimi provides a slightly cheaper, if much less operational offering for $12 a month.
Two final things to be aware of on the pricing :
Some competing providers — notably Mailchimp – provide completely free accounts for users that have a few records (but these don’t supply the full range of features that you get on a paid plan).
As stated earlier, if you are ready to pay upfront for 1 or 2 decades, you can avail of significant discounts that the other competitors do not yet provide.
So the bottom line is that Getresponse is fairly competitive in the pricing department. But what about attributes? Email Marketing Software Alternatives Mailchimp Alternatives Reddit
Getresponse represents one of the more cost-effective ways to host and communicate with an email database.
It’s also one of the most interesting products of its kind – in that it provides email marketing, landing pages, CRM and webinars all under one roof. It’s hard to consider any competing product that offers this’all around’ proposal, and it’s what proceeds to convince us to use it for Style Factory’s email marketing.
Some improvements to Getresponse do have to be made however, especially where the email designer is concerned – its own drag and drop interface is much more fiddly and not as responsive than it ought to be. A good deal of improvements can be made into the data capture types too, particularly for users wanting to display them on mobile devices.
And from what I gather from reader feedback, there are developments which could be made to the support offering.
All in all though I rate Getresponse very highly – you get considerable bang for your buck with this product.
Here are a few pros and cons of utilizing Getresponse overall:
Advantages of Getresponse
Excellent marketing automation choices.
The CRM performance integrates neatly with Getresponse’s email automation operation.
So long as you’re happy to utilize an’Email’ plan, Getresponse is more affordable than most of its key competitors (in certain situations, significantly so) whilst supplying just as much, if not more functionality as them.
The discounts you get when paying for a couple of decades of service are extremely generous – you will be hard pressed to find similar reductions in costs from key competitors.
Its webinar functionality is a USP – something which isn’t offered by any products that are similar.
Its reporting and comprehensive split testing attributes are strong.
Getresponse is transparent regarding deliverability rates, publishing characters on its website and supplying deliverability data for individual e-newsletters you send.
It offers an extremely flexible approach to data segmentation – more flexible than many competing goods.
It allows you to add subscribers to your mailing list on both a single-opt in and also a dual opt-in basis.
It sends responsive emails and permits you to preview smartphone variations of your e-newsletters very easily.
It comes with a helpful landing page founder – but bear in mind you need to be on a more expensive plan to get the fully functional version of the.
You can test all its features free for 30 days without needing to enter credit card information.
Disadvantages of Getresponse
The drag and drop interface for designing mails can be a little bit on the fiddly side.
The information capture forms provided aren’t responsive and you can not control when and in which they’re displayed on your site.
CRM performance needs to be improved substantially before it could be considered a substitute for a standalone CRM product.
There’s a limited selection of RSS-to-HTML e-newsletter templates provided.
You can only use’web-safe’ fonts from e-newsletters, which can make the templates seem marginally less slick than those supplied by competing goods.
The pricing arrangement is a bit confusing, with users having to pay something of a premium to get the landing page creator tool.
The free trial limits the amount of subscribers you’ll be able to send messages into 1000.
The landing page add-on does not let you execute A/B evaluations, meaning that so as to obtain this functionality you’re forced to use a more expensive plan than you might like.
DKIM authentication is only available on the more expensive’Max’ plans.
No phone support is provided. Email Marketing Software Alternatives Mailchimp Alternatives Reddit
