Not only does this provide all the crucial stuff you would expect from an email advertising platform – list hosting, templates, autoresponders, analytics and so forth, but as mentioned above, it has recently been expanding the attribute set to the point at which it is morphing into an all-in-one / CRM-style marketing platform.
The inquiry is if Getresponse is a jack of all trades and master of not – let us drill down into the key features to find out.

Landing page Builder
Online advertising campaigns which use landing pages will usually generate far more leads in the event, rather than simply directing people to a (cluttered!) Site, they tip users to appealing’squeeze pages’ comprising clear info and a clean, well-designed data capture form.

Customer Relationship Management
One of the most frustrating facets of utilizing many well-known CRM tools is the necessity to export data to CSV and straight back into your email marketing tool as a way to do mailouts (or the need to export data from the email marketing tool in your CRM to include prospects to it).
So when I saw Getresponse recently introducing a new CRM attribute in their plans I had been intrigued – that could potentially eliminate all that info exporting and exporting, and keep everything neatly in 1 place.
Initially I was not that impressed with the Getresponse CRM tool as you can only use it to carry out rather basic jobs: you can create sales pipelines, add contacts to them and track activity (mails, phone calls etc.) with these contacts manually.
But recently Getresponse have upped their game a bit on this particular front. The CRM is currently integrated with all of Getresponse’s email marketing operation and you can add users to a CRM pipeline based on their action (form completions, email opens, purchases etc.) or activate autoresponders depending on the addition of a new contact to a pipeline phase.
An example of how you could use this operation is as follows:
You can add a contact to a specific point on a revenue pipeline based on the page of your site they finished a form on;
you could then send a automated email tailored to this pipeline period a couple of days later;
and dependent on the action they took in regards to that email (clicking on a particular link etc) you can automatically move them on another phase of the pipeline and invite invite them into a webinar.
It’s very clever stuff, and I can’t think of any similar email marketing product offering such a tight integration between autoresponders and CRM pipelines. For this kind of functionality you normally must look at dedicated — and more costly — CRM products such as Salesforce and Infusionsoft.
However, it is not all fantastic news on the CRM front there are a few big things missing out of Getresponse’s CRM attribute collection.
The most glaring omission is email activity monitoring. Other CRM packages permit you to bcc a dropbox email address any time you send an email to some lead or client; doing so keeps a list of this communication from the contact’s history. There’s now no method of doing this with all the Getresponse CRM, nor is there an easy way to send one-to-one emails to leads or clients.
And oddly, when you click a contact within a deal pipeline, you can not see their contact activity — i.e., the activities they have taken (open, clicks etc.) with regard to previous communications that you have delivered to your prospects are not displayed. To see this, you need to go out of the CRM section of Getresponse, search for your contact in the contacts section and click in their details. But guess what? Doing so does not display their deal history.
Task management is non-existent also: unlike dedicated CRM tools, there’s no way to assign tasks to other team members.
Finally, adding contacts to a pipeline stage is tough. You have to add contacts to a list first, then go to the CRM pipeline, include a bargain and search your lists for the contact you just added. From a usability point of view this is extremely clunky and time consuming. You should just be able to add a bargain directly to a pipeline and input the contact information of your lead or client at the point.
So as things stand, the Getresponse CRM is somewhat half-baked. However, it is a new attribute and the stuff it could perform on the automation aspect is impressive. I am hopeful that this attribute becomes developed over time since done right, it is potentially a game-changer for entrepreneurs and SMEs.
Getresponse recently introduced the capability to sponsor webinars on the platform.
Given that webinars are generally used as a lead-generation strategy, the idea of getting your email database along with your webinar tool under the exact same roof is very attractive.
The pricing is also very aggressive also by comparison to based webinar solutions. For instance, among the leading webinar services, Gotowebinar, fees $199 per month to sponsor webinars with up to 500 attendees; you can really do the same (plus a great deal more) with Getresponse for $165 (as long as your list size is below 25,000).

Not all email advertising suppliers are that forthright about their deliverability prices; however, Getresponse seems pretty open about that, with this to say about it in their site:

I really do have to pull Getresponse up on something relating to deliverability nevertheless: to ensure a high deliverability speed, it’s advisable to use a platform called DKIM email authentication. You can use DKIM with Getresponse – but only on the more expensive Getresponse’Max’ plans.
Though I have not encountered any deliverability difficulties utilizing the cheaper plans, competing goods do not force you to invest in a more expensive plan to avail of this feature — it’d be useful to see Getresponse becoming more generous here.
There are two approaches you can use to add subscribers to a mailing list: having a’single opt-in’ or even a’double click’ process.
If you use use a single opt-in process, the individual signing up to your mailing list is added to your mailing list the moment they hit the submit button on your sign up form.
With a double opt-in procedure, the individual signing up to your list is sent an email containing a confirmation link that s/he must click before being subscribed.
The most important benefit of one opt-in process is that it makes it really simple for users to subscribe to a mailing list; additionally, it generally increases conversion rate and therefore the amount of readers on your record. Overall, Getresponse is really simple to use. It’s certainly easy enough to perform all of the basics: import contacts, create campaigns, setup autoresponders and check statistics and the interface is really intuitive and clean.
In terms of how it stacks up against its rivals in this regard, I would assert that Campaign Monitor is a tiny bit more user friendly, and Mailchimp has a slicker user interface (although one that makes finding certain functionality just a little bit tricky at times).
1 place I feel that could be significantly better from a user-friendliness point of view is that the Getresponse e-newsletter editor.
Whilst its drag-and-drop approach does in theory provide an extremely flexible way to make blocks of articles and transfer them around an e-newsletter, in practice it’s quite clunky to use and can cause accidental deletion of content, or placement of it at the incorrect portion of the e-newsletter.
If you can get your head about it, and practice using it a bit, it will make for a helpful instrument – it is just that the execution of it might be rather better.
Also, as described above, the CRM tool could be far better from a usability point of view — adding contacts to deals could be unnecessarily difficult.
The 30-day complimentary trial that Getresponse provides is fully operational and the free trial is not contingent upon providing credit card information.
This makes it possible to avoid that annoying”oops I forgot I signed up for that trial and now I am getting charged for a product I do not use” scenario.
The only down side to the free trial is that it restricts the amount of subscribers you can send to to 1000. It would be good if that could be increased a little, as it would help prospective users try the tool out in more’real world’ scenarios.

It’s also worth pointing out that Mailchimp offers narrower pricing rings, meaning that depending on how big your listing, it may occasionally be a slightly cheaper alternative than Getresponse.

You are able to try out all of its features free for 30 days without the need to input credit card details.
Disadvantages of Getresponse
The drag and drop interface for designing emails can be a little bit on the side.
The information capture forms provided aren’t responsive and you can not control when and in which they’re displayed on your website.
