Like most email advertising providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, website, Industry, address, company size, record size and also the kind of material you intend to send.
Then, you need to verify your Site (or domain ).
This remains part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is related to this domain so they could email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed those Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Website, and determine whether you are a good match for their services.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to make campaigns and play with the features, but you will not be able to send anything until accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these steps aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle The majority of your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But if it’s a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from name and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not open your broadcast email, together with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, the Majority of these will follow The exact same step-by-step procedure of a standard effort.
So let us walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Pick a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and select from one of the pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, but the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to add different Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, product columns, and social connections.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ options where you can choose your groups or segments.
The advanced tab also allows one To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing Report 2017
Managing Your Clients
Having granular control over your readers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You are searching to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”label” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified principles, and are automatically inserted or eliminated accordingly.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also blend Principles, in addition to another rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and also the difference in title, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation principle — that we’ll get to in a minute — and they don’t have any value besides what you call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple contributors together based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they’re optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular fields, such as title, company, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers together with Your custom field information in separate columns… or can simply add these fields to your forms which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added into a form:
I will not go too much into the form Stuff here because I have a whole section on that below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field information from fresh Readers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to understand this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on stage. Email Marketing Report 2017
If you’re not impressed with what you have seen so far, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, it will offer a great base to work from if, like the majority people, you do not have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all ultimately do the same task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is already better than a few dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Adequate set of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover .
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer lets you To personalize everything from the kind style, fields, background, name, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To visualize your copy in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to a form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure how the Form functions, including adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded form and prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on mobile by switching the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of this Embedded form but as I said before, you may also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this setup process is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do offer a good foundation to work from and the editor is just as simple to use for this form kind.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Finally, you can choose the near Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
This is really where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific coverage for that campaign.
This is where you’ll find a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of this report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see exactly how your subscribers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations are also Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even although I found to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will get the available data more than enough to fulfill their demands.
What is email marketing without a dash of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for every email advertising software.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an act, like transferring a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite ought to have no trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s now no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that activate new automation workflows. It’s simply not as efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when creating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your topic line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, but once you’ve created your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email address will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, which means it’s possible to get an idea about what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s actually much quicker than what I am utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you’ll probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s one type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or measure ) based on the way Readers interact with all the pages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting only isn’t accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you might want to skip this one. Email Marketing Report 2017
The cost of MailerLite is one of the tools largest Selling points, and let’s face it, most of us love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this plan, it’s still an amazing alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It turns out, at around half the Price of the rivalry on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the least expensive options available on the market. Plus, if you are willing to pay yearly, you can also get a much better discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those email marketing tools The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of years, and that’s no easy feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
