Intro Email Marketing Examples
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what could you say? Email Marketing Examples
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses today, email marketing continues to be Dominated by the same big players for the last decade. Which means that they get encouraged very deeply and achieve a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So today, in this short article, I’ll be tearing MailerLite from limb To limb to find out if it stands its ground against the big boys…

Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your organization name, website, Business, address, business size, list size and also the kind of content you plan to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Website (or domain ).
This is still part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain in order that they could email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Website, and ascertain whether you are a fantastic fit for their service.
(Quite simply, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you will not be able to send anything before accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these steps are not ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to handle Nearly all your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But if it’s a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular effort: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not start your broadcast email, together with the option of changing the subject line and email articles.
– RSS campaign: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few added choices, most of these will follow The same step-by-step procedure of a normal campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Select a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and select from one of their pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to include distinct Types of content to your email, including videos, product columns, and social connections.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you are able to choose your classes or sections.
The advanced tab also allows you To build segment-like rules , in case your targeting is not quite right.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing Examples
Handling Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most essential aspects of any email advertising program now.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”label” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and are automatically added or eliminated so.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also blend Principles, in addition to another rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and despite the difference in title, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation rule — that we’ll get to in a minute — and they have no value aside from what you actually call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple contributors together according to a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they are optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular fields, such as name, business, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or can simply add these fields to your forms which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added into a form:
I will not go too much into the form Stuff here since I have an entire section on that below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field data from new Readers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to understand this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on stage. Email Marketing Examples
If you are not impressed by what you’ve seen up to Now, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, but it does offer a great foundation to work from if, like most people, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all finally do the identical job; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is better than a few dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Decent set of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover here.
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer lets you To personalize everything in the form style, subjects, background, title, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To visualize your copy in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to some form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form functions, such as adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded form also prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can check the way your form screens on cellular by switching the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of this Embedded form but like I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the setup process is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do offer a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use for this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types Now around:
Considering paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Finally, you can Select the close Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special reporting for that effort.
This is where you’ll discover a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of the report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see how your subscribers interacted to another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, even although I found to be less insightful than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will get the available statistics more than enough to meet their demands.
What is email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, then You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for every email advertising program.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a conditional split, or an action, such as moving a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s now no automation for moving Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that activate new automation workflows. It’s simply not as effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when creating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, so it’s possible to find an concept about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it’s actually much faster than what I’m utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you will likely find that this downgrade in performance.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is one Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also that I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on the way Subscribers interact with all the webpages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting just is not available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Email Marketing Examples
The Price of MailerLite is undoubtedly among those tools biggest Selling things, and let us face it, we all love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this program, it’s still an amazing alternative for those starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It turns out, at approximately half of the Cost of the competition on average, MailerLite is by far one of the least expensive options available on the industry. Additionally, if you are ready to pay yearly, you can also get a much greater discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those few marketing tools to interrupt The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of years, and that’s no easy feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
