Introduction Email Marketing Daily
If I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what would you say? Email Marketing Daily
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online industries today, email advertising continues to be Dominated by the same big players for the previous ten years. Which means they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So now, in this review, I’ll be tearing MailerLite from limb To limb to see if it really stands its ground against the big boys…
…and, what’s more, whether youshould consider making the change.

Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your company name, site, Industry, address, company size, list size and even the type of content you intend to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Website (or domain name).
This is still part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain in order that they could email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Site, and ascertain whether you’re a good fit for their services.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you won’t be able to send anything before approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these measures are not ideal for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle Nearly all your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But if it’s a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t open your broadcast email, together with the choice of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added options, most of these will follow The exact same step-by-step procedure of a standard campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Pick a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and choose from one of their pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to add distinct Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and social links.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ options where you are able to select your groups or sections.
The advanced tab also allows one To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that is instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing Daily
Handling Your Clients
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most essential aspects of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You’re looking to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”label” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your readers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified principles, and will be automatically added or eliminated so.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even combine Rules, in addition to an alternate rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and despite the difference in name, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation principle — that we’ll get into in a minute — and they have no value aside from what you call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple subscribers together according to a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they are optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own areas, such as title, company, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers together with Your custom field information in separate columns… or can simply add these fields to a types which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added into a form:
I will not go too much to the form Things here because I have a whole section on this below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field data from fresh Readers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to know this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s fair to say MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on stage. Email Marketing Daily
If you’re not impressed with what you’ve seen so far, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, but it does offer a great base to work from if, for example the majority of us, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the identical job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is already better than some dedicated solutions *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Adequate set of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a lot to cover here.
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer allows you To customize everything from the form style, fields, background, name, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To visualize your backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to some form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form functions, including adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded kind and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can check the way your form displays on mobile by switching the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of this Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the installation Procedure is identical, you will find A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do offer a fantastic base to work from and the editor is just as easy to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new choices under form types This time around:
Contemplating paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Last, you can choose the near Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber development, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific reporting for this effort.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of this report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see how your readers interacted with your emails compared to another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less insightful than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will find the available data more than sufficient to fulfill their demands.
What’s email advertising with no dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The good news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising program.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a conditional split, or an action, like moving a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for moving Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that trigger new automation workflows. It is simply not as efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when creating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your subject line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, but once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email address will be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, which means it’s possible to find an concept about what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is really much faster than what I’m utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It’s quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s 1 type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, also I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or measure ) based on the way Readers interact with the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you might want to skip this one. Email Marketing Daily
The cost of MailerLite is one of those tools biggest Selling things, and let’s face it, most of us love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your mails using this program, it’s still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It turns out, at approximately half the Cost of the competition generally, MailerLite is by far among the least expensive options on the market. Plus, if you’re willing to pay annually, you can also get a much better discount.
In Reality, I have not been able to locate anything that does the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the very few email advertising tools The (very crowded) sector in recent years, and that’s no easy feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
