Up until quite recently Getresponse service was one of the most comprehensive available for email marketing tools: the firm offered phone support alongside live chat support, email service and various online tutorials / resources.

Landing page Builder
Online advertising campaigns which use landing pages will typically generate far more leads if, instead of simply directing people to some (cluttered!) Website, they tip users to appealing’squeeze pages’ comprising clear info and a tidy, well-designed data capture type.
Getresponse provides something very useful in this respect that the majority of its competitors don’t: a landing page creator (and one that’s mobile-friendly to boot).

Accordingly, if I was interested in the Getresponse landing page performance, I wouldn’t bother with this fairly half-baked add-on: I would just go for a few of the more expensive programs (which I suppose is what Getresponse want you to do) .
Getresponse was before its rivals for quite some time using its responsive email design performance, which automatically corrects your e-newsletter’s template so that when a user is reading it onto a mobile device, the design and fonts will be automatically optimised for the device in question.
Most competing products have captured up on this now, and offer responsive email templates, but Getresponse is far better than many similar products when it comes to displaying a responsive preview of your e-newsletter – you simply hit on a’cellphone preview’ button to get an instant snapshot of your email looks like on a smartphone (see image right).

Customer Relationship Management
One of the most frustrating facets of utilizing many well-known CRM tools is that the necessity to export information to CSV and straight back to your email marketing tool as a way to do mailouts (or the necessity to export info from your email marketing tool in your CRM to add leads to it).

An example of how to use this operation is as follows:
You can add a contact to a particular stage on a sales pipeline based on the page of your site they completed a form ;
you could then send a automated email tailored to this pipeline period a few days later;
and based on the actions they took in regards to that email (clicking on a certain link etc) you could automatically move them on another phase of the pipeline and automatically invite them to a webinar.
It’s very smart stuff, and that I can’t think of any similar email marketing product offering such a tight integration between autoresponders and CRM pipelines. For this type of functionality you normally must look at committed — and more expensive — CRM products such as Salesforce and Infusionsoft.
But, it is not all fantastic news on the CRM front there are some big things missing from Getresponse’s CRM feature set.
The most glaring omission is email activity tracking. Other CRM packages allow you to bcc a dropbox email address any time you send an email to a lead or customer; doing so keeps a list of the communication in the contact’s history. There’s now no way of doing so together with all the Getresponse CRM, nor is there an easy way to send one-to-one emails to leads or clients.
And strangely, when you click on a contact in a bargain pipeline, you can not see their contact activity — i.e., the actions they have taken (open, clicks etc.) with regard to previous communications which you’ve delivered to your prospects aren’t displayed. To see this, you need to go from the CRM part of Getresponse, search for your own contact in the contacts section and click in their details. But guess what? Doing this does not exhibit their history.
Task management is non-existent also: Unlike committed CRM tools, there’s no way to assign tasks to other team members.
Eventually, adding contacts into a pipeline stage is tough. You have to add contacts to a list first, then go to the CRM pipeline, add a deal and hunt your lists to receive the contact you just added. From a usability standpoint this is extremely clunky and time consuming. You should just have the ability to add a deal right to a pipeline and enter the contact details of your lead or client at that point.
So as things stand, the Getresponse CRM is somewhat half-baked. However, it’s a new attribute and the things it could do on the automation aspect is impressive. I am hopeful that this attribute gets developed over time because done right, it’s potentially a game-changer for entrepreneurs and SMEs.
Getresponse recently introduced the capability to host webinars on the platform.
Given that webinars are usually used as a lead-generation strategy, the idea of having your email database and your webinar tool under precisely the exact same roof is very appealing.
The pricing is also very aggressive too by comparison to based webinar solutions. The email deliverability rate – the percentage of e-newsletters sent that successfully hit inboxes – is obviously an important point to look at when choosing an email marketing tool.
Not all email marketing providers are that forthright in their deliverability rates; however, Getresponse seems pretty open about this, with this to say about it on their site:

For all our customers collectively, however, we’re pleased to say our overall deliverability rate now stands at 99%.
Clearly you’re going to need to choose the organization’s word for this, but supposing it’s true, it is a fantastic rate and inspires confidence that the huge majority of emails you send using Getresponse will reach their receivers.
Furthermore, Getresponse really provides you the deliverability rate of every message on your email analytics – that is something that I haven’t struck on rival products’ metrics. A thumbs up for this.
I really do have to pull Getresponse up on something concerning deliverability nevertheless: to ensure a high deliverability speed, it’s a good idea to use a system called DKIM email authentication. You can use DKIM with Getresponse – but just on the costlier Getresponse’Max’ plans.

On the whole, Getresponse is pretty simple to use. It is certainly easy enough to perform all of the fundamentals: import contacts, create campaigns, set up autoresponders and check numbers and the interface is really intuitive and clean.
With regards to how it stacks up against its rivals in this respect, I would argue that Campaign Monitor is a tiny bit more user friendly, and Mailchimp has a slicker user interface (although one which makes finding certain functionality a little bit tricky at times).
1 area I think that might be significantly better from a user-friendliness standpoint is the Getresponse e-newsletter editor.
Whilst its drag-and-drop strategy does in theory provide an extremely flexible way to create blocks of content and move them about an e-newsletter, in practice it’s fairly user friendly to use and can lead to accidental deletion of material, or positioning of it in the wrong part of the e-newsletter.
If you’re able to get your head about it, and practice using it a little bit, it does make for a helpful tool – it’s only that the implementation of it might be rather better.
Additionally, as explained above, the CRM tool might be better from a usability point of view — adding contacts to deals could be unnecessarily difficult.
The 30-day free trial that Getresponse supplies is completely operational and the free trial isn’t contingent upon supplying credit card information.
This makes it possible to avoid that annoying”oops I forgot I signed up for that trial and now I’m getting charged for a commodity that I do not use” scenario.
The only down side to this free trial is that it limits the number of subscribers you can send to to 1000. It would be useful if that could be increased a bit, as it would help potential users try out the tool in more’real world’ situations.

Pricing Vs Competitors
Provided that you’re pleased to use one of those entry-level’Email’ programs, the pay-per-month Getresponse programs are on the whole cheaper than those provided by many of its key competitors, particularly in case you’ve got a reasonably high number of email addresses on your database.

Mailchimp’s monthly fee to get a 1,000 recording database is exactly the same as Getresponse’s; and Mad Mimi provides a marginally more affordable, if much less operational offering for $12 per month.
Two final things to be aware of about the pricing :
Some competing providers — notably Mailchimp – offer free account for users with a small number of records (but these don’t supply the full assortment of features that you get on a paid program ).
As mentioned earlier, if you are prepared to pay upfront for 1 or two decades, you can avail of substantial discounts the other competitors do not yet supply.

Getresponse represents one of the more cost-effective tactics to host and speak with an email database.
It’s also among the most intriguing products of its type – because it provides email marketing, landing pages, CRM and webinars all under a single roof. It’s difficult to think of any rival product that delivers this’all around’ proposition, and it’s what proceeds to persuade us to use it to Style Factory’s email advertising.
Some improvements to Getresponse do have to be made however, especially where the email designer is concerned – its drag and drop interface is much more fiddly and not as responsive than it ought to be. A good deal of improvements can be made into the data capture forms also, especially for users wishing to display them on mobile devices.
And from what I gather from reader opinions, there are developments that could be made to the service offering.
Overall though I rate Getresponse very tremendously – you receive considerable bang for your buck with this product.
