Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Business, address, company size, record size and even the kind of content you intend to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Site (or domain ).
This is still part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to this domain so they can email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed those Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Website, and determine whether you are a good fit for their service.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and play with the features, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these measures are not ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from damaging everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with Nearly all your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But if it is a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from name and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t start your broadcast email, with the option of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional options, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step procedure of a standard campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Pick a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and choose from among their pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I will choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, product columns, and societal connections.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you can select your groups or sections.
The tab also allows one To build segment-like rules , in the event your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that is instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Contactlab
Handling Your Clients
Having granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most essential aspects of any email marketing software today.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You’re searching to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”tag” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your readers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified rules, and will be automatically inserted or removed accordingly.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also blend Principles, as well as an alternate rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and also the difference in title, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation rule — which we’ll get to in a moment — and they have no value aside from what you call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple contributors together according to a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they’re discretionary.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own fields, such as title, business, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers along with Your custom field data in separate columns… or can easily add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added to a form:
I won’t go too much to the shape Things here since I have an entire section on that below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field data from new Readers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important to know that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on point. Contactlab
If you are not impressed with what you’ve seen so far, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, it does offer a great foundation to work from if, like most people, you don’t have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all finally do the identical task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is already better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Adequate pair of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover .
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the form style, fields, background, name, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To visualize your copy in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to a form than simply its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, such as adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There’s a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded kind and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess how your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of the Embedded form but like I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the setup Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do offer a good base to work from and the editor is just as easy to use for this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new choices under form types Now around:
Considering paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup forms.
And, like before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Finally, you can Select the near Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
That is really where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special coverage for that campaign.
This is where you’ll discover a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of this report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see your readers interacted to another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found these to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will find the available data more than enough to meet their demands.
What is email marketing without a dash of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The good news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for every email marketing software.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, including a Delay, a conditional split, or an act, like transferring a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities in regards to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite ought to not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s now no automation for moving Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that activate new automation workflows. It is just much less effective…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when generating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your subject line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email will be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, so it’s possible to get an idea about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s actually much quicker than what I am utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll probably find that this downgrade in functionality.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, however I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is 1 Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and I think it’s important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on how Readers interact with the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you might want to skip this one. Contactlab
The cost of MailerLite is no doubt among those tools largest Selling points, and let’s face it, we all love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this plan, it’s still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It turns out, at around half of the Price of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options available on the industry. Additionally, if you are willing to pay yearly, you are also able to get an even better discount.
In fact, I have not been able to locate anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those very few email marketing tools The (very crowded) industry in recent decades, and that’s no easy feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
