Up until quite recently Getresponse service was amongst the most comprehensive available for email advertising tools: the company offered phone service together with live chat support, email support and assorted online tutorials / tools.
Regrettably, the telephone service has been discontinued. Instead you are going to have to use live chat (24/7) or email support. Furthermore, you will find tons of templates to choose from — over 500 — and they are introduced in easy-to-understand classes, so it’s generally pretty simple to find a good beginning point to get a template and edit it before you are delighted with the plan.
If you are really not pleased with the templates provided by Getresponse, there’s also the option of buying a template from a third party provider such as Theme Forest.
Another thing worth pointing out regarding Getresponse’s templates is that the range of RSS-to-email software options aren’t very extensive (just 11 templates are provided – well short of their 700+ accessible for routine newsletters!) You can purchase the Landing Pages feature as an add-on for an additional $15 per month, however quite frustratingly, although the add-on permits you to display an infinite amount of landing pages to prospective subscribers, it doesn’t consist of A/B testing.
Accordingly, if I had been interested in the Getresponse landing page functionality, I would not bother with this rather half-baked add-on: I would just go for one of the pricier programs (which I suppose is exactly what Getresponse want one to do!) .

It’s very clever stuff, and I can not think of any email marketing product offering such a tight integration between autoresponders and CRM pipelines. For this kind of performance you normally need to look at dedicated — and more expensive — CRM products like Salesforce and Infusionsoft.
However, it is not all good news on the CRM front there are some big things missing from Getresponse’s CRM attribute set.
The most glaring omission is email activity tracking. Additional CRM packages allow you to bcc a dropbox email address whenever you send an email to some lead or customer; doing this keeps a list of this communication from the contact’s history. There is currently no method of doing so together with all the Getresponse CRM, nor is there an easy way to send one-to-one mails to leads or customers.
And oddly, if you click a contact within a bargain pipeline, you can’t see their contact action — i.e., the activities they’ve taken (open, clicks etc.) in regards to previous communications that you’ve delivered to your prospects are not displayed. To see this, you have to go from the CRM part of Getresponse, search for your own contact in the contacts section and then click on their details. But guess what? Doing so doesn’t display their deal history.
Task management is non-existent also: Unlike committed CRM tools, there’s no way to assign tasks to other group members.
Finally, adding contacts to a pipeline stage is difficult. You have to add contacts to a list , then visit the CRM pipeline, include a bargain and hunt your lists for the contact you just added. From a usability point of view this is extremely clunky and time consuming. You should just be able to add a bargain right to a pipeline and then input the contact details of your guide or client at that point.
So as things stand, the Getresponse CRM is somewhat half-baked. However, it is a new attribute and the things it could do on the automation aspect is impressive. I’m hopeful that this attribute becomes developed over time because done right, it’s potentially a game-changer for entrepreneurs and SMEs.
Getresponse recently introduced the capability to sponsor webinars on the platform.
Given that webinars are generally utilized as a lead-generation strategy, the notion of getting your email database along with your webinar tool under the exact same roof is very appealing.
The pricing is also very aggressive also by comparison to established webinar solutions. The email deliverability rate – the proportion of e-newsletters sent that successfully hit inboxes – is always an important thing to look at when choosing an email marketing tool.
Not all email advertising suppliers are that forthright about their deliverability rates; however, Getresponse seems reasonably open about this, with this to say about it on their own site:

Furthermore, no controls are offered by Getresponse to change forms on or off on particular devices or individual pages of your website. If you can get your head around it, and practice using it a bit, it does make for a useful tool – it is only that the implementation of it might be rather better.
Additionally, as described above, the CRM instrument might be far better from a usability point of view — adding contacts to deals can be difficult.
The 30-day free trial that Getresponse provides is fully functional and the free trial isn’t contingent upon providing credit card details.
This makes it possible to avoid that annoying”oops I forgot I signed up for that trial and today I am getting charged for a product I don’t use” scenario.
The only down side to this free trial is that it limits the number of subscribers it is possible to send to to 1000. It would be useful if this could be increased a little, as it might help prospective users try out the tool in more’real-world’ scenarios.

The only well-known service that I can think of that comes from significantly cheaper is Mad Mimi, which costs $42 per month to host up to 10,000 email addresses (note however that the functionality offered by Mad Mimi is nowhere near as extensive as Getresponse’s or really the other products mentioned previously ).
Additionally, it is worth pointing out that Mailchimp offers thinner pricing bands, meaning that based on how big your listing, it might occasionally be a slightly cheaper alternative than Getresponse.
At the smaller database end of things, Getresponse’s pricing is really competitive too – you can host a database comprising 1,000 email addresses for $15 a month with Getresponse, compared to $29 with Aweber; $59 on Campaign Monitor (infinite send).
Mailchimp’s monthly fee for a 1,000 record database is exactly the same as Getresponse’s; and Mad Mimi supplies a marginally cheaper, if less functional offering for $12 a month.
Two final things to be aware of on the pricing front:
Some competing suppliers — especially Mailchimp – offer completely free accounts for users with a few records (but these don’t offer the full range of features that you get on a paid program ).
As stated before, if you are prepared to pay upfront for 1 or two years, you can avail of significant discounts the other competitors do not yet provide.

It’s also among the most intriguing products of its type – in that it provides email marketing, landing pages, CRM and webinars all under a single roof. It’s difficult to consider any competing product that delivers this’all around’ proposal, and it is what continues to convince us to utilize it to Style Factory’s email marketing.
Some developments to Getresponse do need to be made nonetheless, especially where the email programmer is concerned – its own drag and drop interface is much more fiddly and less responsive than it should be. A lot of improvements could be made to the data capture forms too, especially for users wishing to display them on mobile devices.
And from what I gather from reader opinions, there are developments that could be made into the support offering.
All in all though I rate Getresponse very tremendously – you get substantial bang for your dollar with this product.
