Description of Getresponse Best Email Marketing Software For Outlook
Getresponse is primarily an email Advertising program Which Allows you to: Best Email Marketing Software For Outlook
Import and host a mailing list and also capture data onto it
generate newsletters which can be sent to the subscribers in your mailing list
automate your mails to subscribers via use of’autoresponders’
view and analyse data related to your email marketing campaigns — open rate, click through, forwards etc..
Lately however, Getresponse’s attribute set has developed quite a bit, to the point at which it is becoming more of an’all-in-one’ marketing alternative.
In addition to email advertising, it now also provides webinar hosting, landing pages, and some CRM (customer relationship management) functionality.
We are going to discuss all these attributes in depth below, but first, let us look in pricing.
Getresponse’s feature set is possibly among the most comprehensive out there.
Not only does this provide all of the key stuff you’d expect from an email marketing platform – list hosting, templates, autoresponders, analytics and so forth, but as mentioned above, it has recently been expanding the feature set to the point at which it’s morphing into an all-in-one / CRM-style advertising and marketing platform.
The inquiry is whether Getresponse is a jack of all trades and master of not – let’s drill down to the key features to find out.
Up until quite recently Getresponse service was one of the most comprehensive available for email marketing tools: the firm offered phone service together with live chat support, email service and assorted online tutorials / resources.
Sadly, the phone support has been discontinued. Instead you’ll need to use live chat (24/7) or email support. To be fair, many similar e-marketing platform suppliers only offer both of these channels – if phone service is a deal-breaker for you then you may wish to contemplate Aweber, which still supplies it (you can read our Aweber review ).
Concerning the caliber of Getresponse support, I’ve not had to use it quite frequently (a good thing) but once I have I’ve discovered it for a bit of a mixed bag (less of a good thing). A number of the live chat service I’ve received has been outstanding, and I have not needed to wait too long to talk to a broker; the email service less so.
Some of the comments I’ve got from our readers does suggest that there do need to be improvements made in terms of the caliber of service Getresponse offer. Much like a lot of these types of businesses, I anticipate it boils down to that you get daily. Best Email Marketing Software For Outlook
Getresponse offers some very comprehensive analytics and reporting options. You get all the Fundamentals of course – open speed, click-through, unsubscribe Prices and so on – but in addition to that you will find some very nifty features Which Are worth a Specific mention, namely:
‘one-click segmentation’: the option to identify people who didn’t participate with an e-newsletter you sent and set them in a segment of subscribers which you can then email again with a different version of the e-newsletter
‘metrics over time’: you can discover just when most of your subscribers take action on your emails, and period your future mailouts based on this info
’email ROI’: by incorporating some tracking code to your post-sales page on your site, it is possible to find out how efficiently (or not!) Your email campaigns are driving sales, and workout your return on investment in email marketing.
Per-user information – you can click on one of your subscribers and see where they signed up from, where they’re found and which emails they’ve opened previously.
Mailchimp and Aweber offer some similar reporting functionality (particularly around sales monitoring ) but Getresponse’s reporting tool is definitely one of most featured on the market (it certainly trounces the stats options provided by Mad Mimi and Campaign Monitor).
Thus far so good with Getresponse, however, when it comes to templates, Getresponse arguably falls down a little.
Unfortunately, the templates provided from the box seem a bit dated; they are not as attractive as those provided by Mailchimp or Campaign Monitor (and I marginally prefer Aweber’s offering here also ).
On the plus side, the templates are extremely tweakable – you can change fonts, layouts and imagery easily enough with all the controls provided; and naturally there is nothing to stop you simply designing your HTML email template and importing the code for it.
Furthermore, there are a lot of templates to choose from — over 500 — and they are introduced in easy-to-understand classes, so it is generally pretty simple to find a good beginning point to get a template and then edit it before you’re happy with the plan.
If you are really unhappy with the templates provided by Getresponse, there is also the option of buying a template from a third party provider such as Theme Forest.
Another thing worth pointing out seeing Getresponse’s templates is that the assortment of RSS-to-email software options are not so extensive (only 11 templates are supplied – well short of their 700+ available for routine newsletters!) And some of them played up a bit for me when I tested them in Outlook (2010). I finally found something that worked for me, but I think that there are definitely some improvements that could be created in this area. Best Email Marketing Software For Outlook
Autoresponders are e-newsletters which are sent to your readers at intervals depending on you personally — you can set them up so that instantly after someone signs up to a mailing list, they receive a welcome message in your company; a week after they can receive a discount deal for a number of your goods or services; 3 weeks after they could obtain an encouragement to follow you on social networking. And so Forth.
Getresponse’s autoresponder functionality is an integral selling point – it offers among the most comprehensive feature sets available.
You can send either time-based or action-based messages; time-based options include cycles such as the illustration above, and action-based messages may be triggered by user actions or advice, for example:
contributors to particular lists
changes connected preferences
finished trades / targets
changes in consumer information
Recently Getresponse launched a new version of the new autoresponder functionality, called’Marketing Automation.’
This allows you to make automation workflows using a drag and drop builder – you essentially set up an’automation flowchart’ that instructs Getresponse what to do if a user opens a particular deal, clicks on a certain link .
This kind of performance goes far beyond what’s traditionally been available from autoresponders, and lets you create a user journey that may be customised to the nth level.
To get a quick overview I’d suggest having a look at Getresponse’s video review for Marketing Automation.
It’s important to note, however, these more advanced marketing automation features are only available on the pricier plans – the’Guru’ plan and upward. Best Email Marketing Software For Outlook
Landing page Builder
Online advertising campaigns which use landing pages will usually generate far more leads in the event, rather than simply directing individuals to a (cluttered!) Site, they tip users to appealing’squeeze pages’ containing clear info and a tidy, well-designed data capture type.
Getresponse offers something quite useful in this regard that the majority of its rivals do not: a landing page founder (and one that’s mobile-friendly to boot).
Products such as Campaign Monitor and Aweber require you to use a third party (and paid-for) landing page creating tool such as Unbounce or Instapage; Mailchimp lately introduced a landing page performance but it’s yet to become as sophisticated at Getresponse’s.
However, unless you are on a Getresponse’Guru’,’Max’ or’Enterprise’ program, the Getresponse landing page functionality is fairly limited: you can just produce 1 landing page, which could simply be displayed 1,000 times a month.
Additionally, and above all, you can’t use the landing page A/B testing performance on the least expensive Getresponse program (where the system indicates a sample of your customers different versions of your landing page, calculates conversion speeds, and finally rolls out the top performing landing page automatically).
If you’re serious about landing pages – and they are certainly a useful attribute – then it is definitely worth looking at among the costlier Getresponse plans.
You can purchase the Landing Pages feature as an add-on for an extra $15 a month, however very frustratingly, although the add-on permits you to show an infinite number of landing pages to prospective subscribers, it doesn’t include A/B testing.
Therefore, if I had been interested in the Getresponse landing page functionality, I would not bother with this fairly half-baked add-on: I’d just go for a few of the pricier programs (which I guess is exactly what Getresponse would like you to do!) .
Getresponse was ahead of its competitors for quite some time using its responsive email design performance, which automatically corrects your e-newsletter’s template so that when a user is reading it on a mobile device, the layout and fonts will be optimized for the device in question.
Most competing products have captured up on this now, and extend responsive email templates, but Getresponse is better than many similar goods when it comes to displaying a responsive record of your e-newsletter – you simply hit on a’cellphone preview’ button to get a quick snapshot of what your email looks like on a smartphone (see image right).
Not only this but you can’flip’ the smartphone preview around, so that you can preview what your email looks like when the display is used in either portrait or landscape style. Best Email Marketing Software For Outlook
Customer Relationship Management
One of the most frustrating facets of utilizing many famous CRM tools is that the need to export data to CSV and straight back into your email marketing instrument in order to do mailouts (or the necessity to export info from the email marketing tool in your CRM to add prospects to it).
When I saw Getresponse recently introducing a new CRM feature into their plans I had been intrigued – this could possibly eliminate all that data exporting and exporting, and keep everything neatly in one place.
Initially I wasn’t that impressed with the Getresponse CRM tool as you can only use it in order to perform quite basic jobs: you could create sales pipelines, add contacts to these and track activity (mails, phone calls etc.) with those contacts manually.
But recently Getresponse have upped their game somewhat on this front. The CRM is now integrated with all Getresponse’s email marketing functionality and you can add users into a CRM pipeline based on their activity (form completions, email opens, purchases etc.) or activate autoresponders based on the accession of a new contact into a pipeline stage.
An example of how you could use this functionality would be as follows:
It is possible to add a contact to a particular stage on a sales pipeline depending on the page of your site that they finished a form ;
you could then send a automated email tailored to that pipeline period a few days afterwards;
and based on the actions they took with regard to that email (clicking on a particular link ) you can automatically move them on another phase of the pipeline and invite invite them into a webinar.
It is very smart stuff, and I can not think of any similar email advertising product offering this kind of tight integration between autoresponders and CRM pipelines. For this type of functionality you normally must look at dedicated — and more expensive — CRM products like Salesforce and Infusionsoft.
But, it’s not all good news on the CRM front there are a few big things missing from Getresponse’s CRM feature set.
The most glaring omission is email activity tracking. Additional CRM packages allow you to bcc a dropbox email address any time you send an email to a lead or client; doing this keeps a record of this communication in the contact’s history. There is now no way of doing so with the Getresponse CRM, nor is there an easy way to send one-to-one emails to prospects or clients.
And strangely, if you click on a contact within a bargain pipeline, you can not see their contact activity — i.e., the activities they’ve taken (open, clicks etc.) with regard to previous communications which you have sent to your prospects are not displayed. To see this, you need to go out of the CRM section of Getresponse, hunt for your own contact in the contacts section and click on their details. But guess what? Doing so does not display their history.
Task management is non-existent too: Unlike committed CRM tools, there’s no way to assign tasks to other group members.
Finally, adding contacts into a pipeline stage is tough. You need to add contacts to a list first, then go to the CRM pipeline, include a deal and hunt your lists to receive the contact you just added. From a usability standpoint this is very clunky and time consuming. You should just be able to put in a deal right to a pipeline and input the contact information of your guide or customer at that point.
So as things stand, the Getresponse CRM is a bit half-baked. However, it is a new attribute and the stuff it can do on the automation aspect is impressive. I’m hopeful that this attribute gets developed over time since done right, it is possibly a game-changer for entrepreneurs and SMEs.
Getresponse recently introduced the ability to sponsor webinars on the stage.
Given that webinars are usually utilized as a lead-generation strategy, the notion of getting your email database and your webinar tool under the exact same roof is extremely attractive.
The pricing is also very competitive too by comparison to based webinar solutions. By way of instance, among the primary webinar services, Gotowebinar, fees $199 a month to sponsor webinars with up to 500 attendees; you can actually do exactly the same (plus a whole lot more) with Getresponse for $165 (as long as your list size is below 25,000).
With respect to attendee limitations, the Getresponse’Pro’ program allows you to host a webinar with up to 100 participants; the’Max’ plan’s cap is 500.
You might also buy webinars functionality as an add-on to a cheaper plan: $40 per month buys you a 100 attendees limit, $99 per month buys you a 500 attendees limit. It’s not clear what your choices are if you need to host bigger scale webinars than that however.
Two or Three Getresponse webinar features worth flagging up as being especially useful are:
The very fact Your attendees do not have to install any applications to attend the webinars
one-click record of your webinars
free online storage for playback files
Ultimately webinar performance is potentially a very useful feature to have sitting on your e-marketing arsenal and its addition as a characteristic gives Getresponse a very significant edge over its key rivals, especially once you believe that you can link it in with a built-in CRM tool (more about that in a moment). The email deliverability rate – the percentage of e-newsletters sent that successfully hit inboxes – is always a very important thing to check at when selecting an email marketing instrument.
Not all email marketing suppliers are that forthright about their deliverability rates; but Getresponse seems reasonably open about this, with this to say about it on their own site:
At GetResponse we are frequently asked about the quality of our deliverability speed. Since deliverability depends on a number of things, including the content of your messages, the deliverability rate may vary for every mailing. For all our clients collectively, nevertheless, we’re proud to say our overall deliverability rate now stands at 99%.
Clearly you are going to have to choose the organization’s term for this, but supposing it is accurate, it is a good rate and inspires confidence that the vast majority of emails you send using Getresponse will achieve their intended recipients.
Furthermore, Getresponse really provides you the deliverability rate of each message on your email analytics – that is something that I have not encountered on rival goods’ metrics. A thumbs up for it.
I do have to pull Getresponse up on one thing relating to deliverability nevertheless: to guarantee a high deliverability speed, it is a good idea to use a platform called DKIM email authentication. You are able to use DKIM with Getresponse – but only on the costlier Getresponse’Max’ plans.
Although I have not struck any deliverability problems utilizing the cheaper plans, competing products do not make you invest in a more expensive strategy to avail of this feature — it would be useful to see Getresponse becoming more generous here.
There are two approaches you can employ to add subscribers to a mailing list: using a’single opt-in’ or even a’double click’ process.
If you use use a single opt-in procedure, the person registering to your own mailing list is added to your mailing list the minute they hit the submit button on your sign up form.
With a double opt-in procedure, the individual signing up to your record is sent via an email containing a confirmation link that s/he must click before being subscribed.
The main benefit of one sampling procedure is that it makes it very easy for users to sign up for your mailing list; it also generally increases conversion speed and therefore the amount of readers on your list. A dual opt-in procedure is better for verifying that the folks subscribing to a record are using real email addresses and contributes to cleaner information and more accurate stats (because receptive rates etc. are calculated according to a list containing just email addresses).
Now, the good news is that Getresponse allows you to make use of either opt-in approach – this is not true with all competing goods. So a thumbs up for Getresponse for being flexible about this.
You’re probably thinking that all this sounds pretty good — but to be honest, I think there’s a great deal of room for advancement with regard to Getresponse form templates.
To begin with, they are not responsive (i.e.they won’t resize themselves automatically to suit the device they’re being watched on).
Additionally, no controllers are provided by Getresponse to change forms on or off on particular devices or individual pages of your website. At the light of Google’s brand new approach to pop-ups (where websites can have a hit in search results if they exhibit’intrusive interstitials’ on mobile devices) this is a small concern.
To circumvent this, I generally avoid using Getresponse form templates, and make do with HTML embeded forms that I style myself, and for popups I connect my Getresponse into a growth-hacking instrument called Sumo (this allows me to change pop-ups off for mobile users, in addition to display forms exactly as I’d love to and onto the pages I want). On the whole, Getresponse is pretty simple to use. It is certainly easy enough to do all the basics: import contacts, create campaigns, setup autoresponders and check statistics and the interface is really intuitive and clean.
With regards to how it stacks up against its competitors in this respect, I’d argue that Campaign Monitor is a little bit more user friendly, and Mailchimp has a slicker user interface (although one that makes locating certain performance just a little bit tricky at times).
1 place I feel that could be significantly better in the user-friendliness standpoint is that the Getresponse e-newsletter editor.
Whilst its drag-and-drop strategy does in theory provide an extremely flexible approach to create blocks of content and transfer them around an e-newsletter, in practice it’s quite user friendly to use and can cause accidental deletion of material, or positioning of it at the wrong portion of the e-newsletter.
If you’re able to get your head about it, and practice using it a little bit, it does make for a helpful instrument – it’s just that the execution of it might be rather better.
Also, as explained above, the CRM tool might be far better from a usability point of view — adding contacts to deals could be unnecessarily difficult.
The 30-day free trial which Getresponse supplies is fully operational and the free trial is not contingent upon providing credit card information.
This helps you avoid that annoying”oops I forgot I signed up for that trial and now I’m getting charged for a product I do not use” scenario.
The only down side to this free trial is the fact that it restricts the amount of readers you can send to to 1000. It would be useful if that could be increased a little, as it would help prospective users try out the tool in more’real-world’ situations.
There are three chief sorts of Getresponse pricing plan -‘Email’,’Guru’ and’Max’ — and within each of these, many additional types of plan to pick from (all based on list size).
As much as 1,000 subscribers: $15 (‘Email’) / $49 (‘Guru’) / $165 (‘Max’)
1,001 to 2,500 readers: $25 (‘Email’) / $49 (‘Guru’) / $165 (‘Max’)
2,501 to 5,000 readers: $45 (‘Email’) / $49 (‘Guru’) / $165 (‘Max’)
5,001 to 10,000 subscribers: $65 (‘Email’)/ $75 (‘Guru’) / $165 (‘Max’)
10,001 to 25,000 readers: $145 (‘Email’) / $165 (‘Pro’) / $255 (‘Max’)
25,001 to 50,000 subscribers: $250 (‘Email’) / $280 (‘Guru’) / $370 (‘Max’)
50,001 to 100,000 subscribers: $450 (‘Email’) / $490 (‘Pro’) / $580 (‘Max’
Additionally there’s an”Enterprise” program for consumers whose lists transcend 100,000 email addresses: that begins at $1199, with exact pricing depending on requirements (if you’re interested in the”Enterprise” program, you’ll want to contact Getresponse to schedule a demo, outline your requirements and discuss pricing).
Significant discounts are available if you pay upfront for 12 or 24 months of support (18% and 30% respectively) — these are considerably more generous than most competing platforms. Best Email Marketing Software For Outlook
Distinctions of Each Strategy
Each of the Getresponse plans cover the important fundamentals — key features include:
The ability to export, develop and host an email database
a wide Assortment of templates
responsive email layouts
RSS / site to-email performance
comprehensive segmentation options
societal sharing tools
There are a number of differences between the’Email’,’Pro’ and’Max’ programs but for me the main ones are:
CRM – Getresponse provides a client relationship manager tool on its’Pro’ programs up
Landing pages – you can simply avail of all landing pages which allow split testing and unlimited views if you are on a’Pro’ program or greater
Webinars – this performance is not accessible at all around the’Email’ plan and the amount of webinar attendees is restricted for the’Guru’ and’Max’ programs at 100, 500 respectively (it’s uncertain what the limit is about the’Enterprise’ program ).
Users – you can only have one user account on the’Email’ plan; by comparison you get 3 on’Guru’, 5 on’Max’ and 10 on’Enterprise’.
Pricing Vs Competitors
So long as you’re happy to use one of those entry-level’Email’ programs, the pay-per-month Getresponse plans are on the whole cheaper than those provided by many of its key competitors, particularly if you have a reasonably high number of email addresses onto your own database.
For example, in case you’ve got a mailing list comprising between 9,000 and 10,000 records that you wish to send an infinite number of emails each month to, then you’ll discover that hosting it using Getresponse prices $65 monthly.
$4 per month cheaper than with Aweber
$10 cheaper a month than Mailchimp
$84 per month cheaper than Campaign Monitor*
* Campaign Monitor’s pricing structure is dependent not just the amount of email addresses on your database but on how many emails you send per month too. If you are happy to limit the number of emails sent via Campaign Monitor (in the case above, to 50k emails), you can expect to pay a monthly fee of $89, nevertheless considerably higher than Getresponse’s.
The only well-known service that I can think of that comes from significantly more affordable is Mad Mimi, which charges $42 a month to sponsor up to 10,000 email addresses (note however that the functionality provided by Mad Mimi is nowhere near as extensive as Getresponse’s or indeed the other products mentioned above).
Additionally, it is worth pointing out that Mailchimp offers narrower pricing rings, meaning that depending on the size of your listing, it may sometimes be a slightly cheaper alternative than Getresponse.
In the database end of things, Getresponse’s pricing is really competitive too – you can host a database containing 1,000 email addresses for $15 per month using Getresponse, compared to $29 with Aweber; $59 on Campaign Monitor (infinite send).
Mailchimp’s monthly fee for a 1,000 recording database will be the like Getresponse’s; and Mad Mimi provides a slightly more affordable, if much less functional offering for $12 per month.
Two final things to be Conscious of on the pricing front:
Some competing suppliers — notably Mailchimp – provide free account for users that have a small number of records (but these don’t offer the full range of features that you get on a paid plan).
As stated earlier, if you’re ready to pay upfront for 1 or 2 decades, you can avail of substantial discounts that the other competitors don’t yet supply.
So the bottom line is that Getresponse is pretty competitive in the pricing department. But what about features? Best Email Marketing Software For Outlook
Getresponse represents among the more cost-effective ways to host and speak using an email .
It is also one of the most interesting products of its type – in that it provides email marketing, landing pages, CRM and webinars all under a single roof. It’s difficult to consider any competing product that delivers this’all around’ proposition, and it is what proceeds to convince us to utilize it for Style Factory’s email marketing.
Some developments to Getresponse do need to be made however, particularly where the email designer is concerned – its drag and drop interface is much more fiddly and less responsive than it should be. A good deal of improvements can be made into the data capture forms too, especially for users wanting to display them on mobile devices.
And from what I gather from reader opinions, there are developments which could be made into the support offering.
Overall though I speed Getresponse very tremendously – you receive substantial bang for your buck with this item.
Here are a Couple of pros and cons of using Getresponse overall:
Benefits of Getresponse
Superb marketing automation options.
The CRM functionality integrates neatly with Getresponse’s email automation functionality.
Provided that you are happy to utilize an’Email’ plan, Getresponse is more affordable than most of its key competitors (in certain cases, substantially so) whilst supplying just as much, or even more functionality as them.
The discounts you receive when paying upfront for one or two years of service are extremely generous – you’ll be hard pressed to find comparable reductions in costs from key competitors.
Its webinar functionality is a USP – something that isn’t offered by any products that are similar.
Its own reporting and thorough split testing attributes are powerful.
Getresponse is transparent regarding deliverability rates, publishing figures on its website and supplying deliverability data for individual e-newsletters that you send.
It provides a very flexible approach to data segmentation – more flexible than many competing products.
It permits you to add subscribers to a mailing list on either a single-opt in and a dual opt-in basis.
It transmits responsive emails and allows you to preview smartphone variations of your e-newsletters really easily.
It comes with a helpful landing page creator – but bear in mind that you need to be on a more expensive strategy to get the fully operational version of this.
You are able to try out all its features free for 30 days without needing to enter credit card information.
Disadvantages of Getresponse
The drag and drop interface for designing emails can be a little bit on the fiddly side.
The information capture forms supplied aren’t responsive and you can not control when and in which they are displayed on your website.
CRM performance has to be improved substantially before it could be considered a replacement for a standalone CRM product.
There’s a limited range of RSS-to-HTML e-newsletter templates provided.
You can only use’web-safe’ fonts from e-newsletters, which can make the templates seem marginally less slick than those provided by competing products.
The pricing structure is a little perplexing, with users having to pay something of a superior to get the landing page creator tool.
The free trial restricts the number of readers you’ll be able to send messages into 1000.
The landing page addition does not let you execute A/B tests, meaning that so as to obtain this functionality you’re forced to use a more expensive plan than you might like.
DKIM authentication is only available on the more expensive’Max’ plans.
No phone service is provided. Best Email Marketing Software For Outlook
